The Kaleidoscope Ensemble is a West Australian troupe of musicians, actors, mime artists, puppeteers and story-tellers performing for children and the young at heart.
- Arts:Music,Performing Arts,Jazz
Since 2003 the Perth based Kaleidoscope Ensemble has been performing and running workshop projects for young people. The ensemble’s aim is to enrich the lives of young Australians, presenting performances of the highest quality, which not only entertain, but inspire children to sing, or want to learn musical instruments, act and perform themselves, to read, think about their environment, and to be creative.
Gillian Catlow, the artistic director and founder of the ensemble, grew up in Sydney. She was a founding member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, before moving to Europe where she studied and worked as a freelance violinist in Austria and Germany for 20 years. In 1997 Gillian settled in Perth and established herself as a teacher and performer.
Originally a string quartet and actor, Kaleidoscope, as the name suggests, has undergone many changes, as new ideas develop and various performers pursue exciting adventures in other parts of the world. What has remained constant is Kaleidoscope's passion and enthusiasm for discovering new stories and thinking up different ways to share them with you.
But don't be fooled into thinking Kaleidoscope's performances are strictly for children - the Ensemble's latest production HERMAN AND ROSIE is a musical feast of great tunes from the 40s and 50s played by a fabulous six piece jazz combo featuring the wonderful Libby Hammer. Australian author/illustrator Gus Gordon's acclaimed tale is brought to life in an unforgettable way, which will delight listeners of all ages.
The Midnite Youth Theatre Company at Christ Church Grammar School is Western Australia’s longest, continuously running youth theatre company for young people aged 10-25 from Perth, Western Australia.
- Arts:Music,Performing Arts,Youth
Valued by artists and audiences alike, Midnite is treasured for its continued commitment for those seeking to explore beyond the limits of school drama; producing work in professional venues and touring productions internationally.
We fulfill our mission each season through the production of classic plays, musicals, Australian works and the development and production of new works by established and emerging writers; educational initiatives that enrich the lives of young people; and a parental support group that cultivate and engages all audiences.

As Western Australia’s newest orchestra, we aspire to deliver an unforgettable experience to everyone who sees us perform.
Perth Symphony Orchestra is unique among orchestras. We are a Symphony Orchestra that rarely plays symphonies. We do not play in traditional concert hall venues. We rarely ‘stick to the rules’ of how concerts are presented. We like to be different. Here’s why:
Western Australia is our performance space, its landscape our stage, its people our life.
Perth Symphony or PSO as we’re known believes that music is made to be shared and experienced, that’s why you’ll find us playing in unique and unexpected places performing music from every genre imaginable. From Metallica to Mozart, Britney to Bach, Ellington to Elgar, and more!
We love the opportunity to bring orchestral music to people who wouldn’t ordinarily hear it, and in ways they couldn’t possibly imagine. We collaborate with other art forms and artists, such as painters, DJs, contemporary dancers and actors. PSO brings music to life in a way that you don’t just hear it, you can see it and feel it too!
We believe that our music has the ability to move and inspire people from all cultures and walks of life. Perth Symphony challenges traditions and creates powerful, compelling performances that are often unexpected and always truly memorable.
Semi-professional theatre company run at The University of Western Australia, established in 1917.
- Arts:Comedy,Performing Arts,Music
UDS is a student-run semi-professional theatre company based at the University of Western Australia, and affiliated with the UWA Student Guild. Running for nearly 100 years, UDS has a long history but an interest in producing work that is exciting and relevant today. Open to students and others alike, we encourage new work, including plays written by members, as well as contemporary and historical theatre. UDS works mostly in the Dolphin Theatre at UWA.
All productions are run entirely by members, and UDS is a great breeding ground for young actors, directors, producers, technicians and so on, while being accessible to those just wanting to have some fun.
UDS is a great opportunity for those interested in theatre, both at UWA and outside of it.
As one of Australia's leading music schools in one of the world's leading universities, the UWA Conservatorium of Music transforms individuals to release their full creative potential.
Graduates of the UWA Conservatorium of Music have gone on to postgraduate study at national and international centres of music excellence. They perform in every major orchestra in Australia and as chamber musicians and soloists around the world. They inspire the next generation of musicians in classrooms across Australia and work in a wide range of arts organisations.
Each year, we present a vibrant program of concerts and events that showcase our young emerging artists and the finest musical talent locally, nationally and internationally.
From exhilarating symphonies to captivating a capella. Come and have your life changed by music.
The Western Australian Charity Orchestra know the power music has to uplift and inspire, and seek to bring music to the community and was founded to provide Western Australian musicians with more opportunities to change lives through music.
Our ensembles are made up of over 200 volunteer musicians; the WA Charity Orchestra, WA Wind Symphony, NHarmonic Chorale and WACO Choir.
Our organisation features musicians from diverse backgrounds, including students, teachers, amateurs and professionals of all ages.
As well as presenting outstanding concerts, our musicians regularly sing and play music in the community to make a difference. Throughout the year you will find WACO musicians performing in nursing homes, hospitals, schools and elsewhere in an effort to change lives through music.
