Beverley is a vibrant rural community with a population of 1700. Located in the western central Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, Beverley is less than 140km east of Perth. Just one hour's drive from Perth, the stunning Chittering Valley is fast emerging as a  popular wine,  food and sculpture trail.   The easily accessible trail takes you through the valley's tranquil rolling hills offering views of vines, orchards, pasture and bushland. Sample some of the many award winning wines along the way, choose a venue for lunch or take a picnic.  The trail begins in Bullsbrook and winds its way along Chittering Road ending at Jylland Vineyard near Gingin.

Stay overnight at a farmstay, bed & breakfast or chalet, there are many to choose from..

In Bindoon, the Brockman Centre houses the Bindoon Heritage Museum and the Bindoon Arts and Crafts centre.  There are wonderful displays of wildflowers in spring, culminating in the annual Chittering Wildflower Festival in September. The Bindoon Agricultural Show is held in October. You can even enjoy a tour of the working orchards and take home freshly picked fruit.

An important   landmark of the area is the co-educational Catholic Agricultural College Bindoon, ten kilometres north of Bindoon. East of the College lies the huge hardwood forest knows as Julimar, where tracts of wildflowers can  be seen. Visits to this area are by arrangement with the Chittering Visitor Centre.

Our villages are steeped in a rich history, closely linked by the old railway line that is now the fabulous Railway Reserves Heritage Trail stretching some 59kms through the shire. The amazing engineering feat that is the Mundaring Weir with the water pipeline to the Eastern Goldfields region is also here.

The Munda Biddi off road cycle trail starts in the town of Mundaring and there is numerous other walk and cycle trails to explore. We have a terrific range of accommodation on offer; fine food at award winning restaurants, country taverns, wineries, arts and wildlife, plus a range of exciting events on the calendar, including the very popular Mundaring Truffle Festival and Darlington Arts Festival. The Shire is also home to beautiful Lake Leschenaultia, the Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary and the Perth Hills Discovery Centre.

The Mundaring Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week, Mon–Sat 9.30am–4.00pm and 10.00am-2.30pm Sundays and most Public Holidays* The centre is conveniently situated in the centre of Mundaring , sharing the old school house with the Shire’s District Museum. Ample parking is available.

We have a great range of free brochures on local walk and cycle trails and we sell Munda Biddi Trail and Bibbulmun Track maps, as well as a range of local products, gifts, cards and postcards, so do come in for a browse. Our friendly staff and volunteers have a wealth of local knowledge and look forward to welcoming you.

The Mundaring Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week, Mon–Sat 9.30am–4.00pm and 10.00am-2.30pm Sundays and most Public Holidays* The centre is conveniently situated in the centre of Mundaring , sharing the old school house with the Shire’s District Museum. Ample parking is available.

We have a great range of free brochures on local walk and cycle trails and we sell Munda Biddi Trail and Bibbulmun Track maps, as well as a range of local products, gifts, cards and postcards, so do come in for a browse. Our friendly staff and volunteers have a wealth of local knowledge and look forward to welcoming you.

Description

The Northam Visitor Centre, located on the banks of the river, includes free Wi-fi, an interpretive space featuring the “Sense of Place” Migrant Exhibition, Northam’s First People Exhibition, and environmental displays. Visit the Centre for advice on places to see, stay and eat while you are in the area, information on heritage sites and the places of interest that you may enjoy during your stay, a wide range of local produce and artwork, and a great selection of souvenirs and gifts to remember your time in Northam. From $12 per person you can also experience one of the Centre’s increasingly popular ‘Bilya Bidi’ Tours to soak up Northam’s rich heritage and beautiful surrounds.
