To improve the outlook for Aboriginal Australians we must work together to reduce the gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in our society. We can achieve this by empowering and building capacity among Aboriginal people and their communities.

Description
The Food Allergy Gorup WA was started by myself because there are very few support gorups for Mums, Parents and Carers that you can access online anytime for information or just someone to talk to that knows what it is like to have a child with Anaphylaxis.
My group is a public Facebook Group, but there is also a Members Only MUMS group called No Nuts Mums Perth Australia on Facebook.
Most support groups are based in the USA or you have to pay to have access to them - Food Allergy Group is Free - we do have a small store which sells some allergy products which can be helpful to keep your child safe.
The Website has Links, Recipes, Information, a Blog and more.

Description
Food Rescue is a philanthropically funded program run by UnitingCare West.
Food Rescue services disadvantaged people in Western Australia.
It aims to alleviate hunger by saving perishable, fresh, nutritious food from landfill and redistributing to those who need it.
Food is rescued from supermarkets, distribution centres, cafes, restaurants wholesalers, caterers and function centres and is redistributed through a network of agencies and programs that reach the homeless, women and children in crisis, drug and alcohol crisis centres, emergency relief, new arrivals, Indigenous Australians and low and fixed income earners of all ages.
In WA alone, nearly 14,000 people are homeless each night and a further 111,000 per year are at risk of requiring food assistance.
Food Rescue is fully funded through donations by individuals, businesses and philanthropic funding. We require donations and volunteers to continue to operate to service disadvantaged West Australians and do our bit for this amazing planet we live on.

From what began as the simple act of feeding a few homeless people in a park, Manna has grown to become one of the largest providers of meals for disadvantaged people here in Perth.

Details
Description
Along the way we have seen other needs that we knew had to be addressed and so began our School Breakfast Program, Winter School Uniform program, the School Cooking Facility, Special functions for Seniors, as well as thousands of food parcels delivered each year. The more contact we have with the community, the more we see that there is a greater need for the services we can offer.
Whilst all of these different programs are meeting the physical needs of many people, the greatest gift that Manna gives is a sense of family - love, care, respect, - a smile and hug. For many we come in contact with, from the children right through to the seniors, a hug that comes free of any expectations we have found to be worth more than gold. A relationship is formed and they become part of the Manna family… for many the only family they have right now that can be trusted to look out for their well being.
Here at Manna, we love our big family and would love you to join it and part of assisting the homeless, the children and our precious seniors.

Details
Description
From its inception nearly 60 years ago, Meals on Wheels has grown to become a driving force of care in the community. The delivery of nutritious and affordable meals, together with regular contact and social interaction contributes significantly towards the clients’ wellbeing and independence.
Across Western Australia Meals on Wheels has around 90 Service providers, throughout the Metropolitan, rural and remote regions. Each year in Western Australia close to 930,000 meals are provided to approximately 10,000 clients in their own homes and through dine-in services provided by Community Care Centres.
The majority of clients receiving a Meals on Wheels service are aged between 50 years to 90 plus, however meals on wheels also provides nutritious meals to younger people suffering from disabilities. Every weekday, a whole host of volunteers offer their time to help cook, and prepare, delicious, and healthy 3 course meals which include entrée, main and desert, while keeping in mind the special dietary requirements of many individuals. These meals are then delivered by volunteers directly to each client.
The changing face of Meals on Wheels reflects how the organisation is responding and adapting to the changing face of the community. While the tradition and values of Meals on Wheels remain true to it’s origins, there is a renewed focus on the attributes of a Meals on Wheels service being ‘more than just a meal’. It is the relationship between Meals on Wheels staff and volunteers that assist the client to feel connected and supported by their community, with the trust and rapport built with the client often being a catalyst for linking clients into other services they require to support their goal of remaining in their home. All of these attributes contribute positively to the clients sense of wellness.
