Description

A comedy festival isn’t complete without an aggressive Australian telling jokes in a hilariously threatening manner, baring all with the type of truth usually reserved for therapy sessions. Enter the mind of Shooter if you dare – as he breaks down walls with his bare hands (metaphorical bricks on the walls of social norms, he’s not doing house reno’s).

Since starting out in stand-up 2007 this country South Australian lad has made a global name for himself – from living in LA back in the day, where he was somehow entrusted to attend events and interview A-List celebs on the red carpet for FOX FM, to being flown back there some ten years later to shoot with comedy legend Sacha Baron Cohen to starring in a zombie movie with Jim Jefferies and selling out Australian, Edinburgh Fringe and New Zealand seasons year after year.

Allow (internet) famous comedian Alex Williamson (1.3mil Facebook, 586k Instagram, 625k YouTube, 17 Tinder) & his crude yet sharp persona to make you laugh, think, & possibly even cry (if he squirrel grips a front row patron).

Lindsey remains fearless enough to always dream big. In the years following the release of her 2012 self-titled debut, the electronic music impresario quietly and humbly became one of the 21st century’s most innovative stars by clinging to her ground-breaking vision of cinematic violin-driven electronic music. After bowing at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Dance/Electronic Album Chart, holding #1 on the Classical Album Chart for 21 consecutive weeks, and receiving a Billboard Music Award for “Top Dance/Electronic Album,” her sophomore opus Shatter Me would not only garner an RIAA Gold certification, but it would rank as the #2 Dance/Electronic Album and #1 Classical Album on Billboard’s 2015 Year-End charts.

Attracting over 11 million subscribers and 2 billion-plus views on YouTube, in 2015 Forbes placed Lindsey at #4 on its yearly YouTube artists list, making her the highest-ranked female. Her headline tours would play to a cumulative audience of over 500,000 people worldwide, and her literary debut The Only Pirate at the Party—co-written with her sister Brook S. Passey—became a New York Times Bestseller.  Lindsey’s third-studio album Brave Enough, debuted at #5 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart, went on to score the #1 spot on Billboard’s year-end Top Dance/Electronic Album list and earned Stirling a 2017 Billboard Music Award for “Top Dance/Electronic Album”.

  • Time(s):6.00pm
  • Venue:Astor Theatre

Details

  • Hosted By:David Roy Williams
  • Event Venue:Astor Theatre

Description

Following the one/two punch of “Nursery Cryme” & “Foxtrot”, both driven by the muscular guitars of new member Steve Hackett, Genesis were ready to launch what would become their finest album, “Selling England By The Pound”.

Easing back on the throttle marginally, and immersing themselves in English whimsy and eccentricity, Genesis delivered just under an hour of delicate prose, wondrous melodies and, of course, the soaring leadlines of Steve Hackett.

Finally, now, 47 years after the album’s release, Steve Hackett will be performing “Selling England By The Pound” in full in a series of Australian and New Zealand concerts.

“I think (Genesis) really nailed the best of what that band as an entity could have done with that album.” Neil Peart (Rush)

“… a complexity of tone that’s pretty rare in any kind of art.” Robert Christgau

“the definitive Genesis album” Fish (formerly of Marillion)

In addition, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of its release, Steve will be performing his critically acclaimed solo album “Spectral Mornings”.

“Spectral Mornings is a superb disc from one of the genre’s all-time greatest guitarists. Five stars!” Prog archives

If that’s not enough, Steve will perform selections from his stunning new album “At The Edge Of Light”, and may even be munificent enough to throw in another couple of Genesis tunes.

“I’m excited to bring my Genesis Revisited show back to Australia and New Zealand. It was fantastic to play there last time and to visit those amazing countries. This time will be a special show, including the whole of Genesis album Selling England by the Pound, celebrating my solo album Spectral Mornings 40th anniversary, plus more! I can’t wait!” Steve Hackett
