Description
The Swinney Family have owned their farmland in Frankland River since 1922 when George John Alexander settled there. Their property, ‘Franklands’ is located on the banks of the Frankland River and the terrain is hilly, with ironstone gravel and loam soils and surrounded by jarrah and red gum trees.
The farm diversified into viticulture in 1998 and four vineyards were established around the property, selected for their unique assets for grape growing. Frankland River regional hero varieties; Cabernet and Syrah (Shiraz) are the focus, with Riesling following. A few varieties rarely seen in the region are planted too, including Grenache and Tempranillo that contribute to remarkable Syrah and Cabernet blends.
Swinney Wines were named one of James Halliday’s Top Ten New Australian Wineries in 2015.
The wines are available directly from the estate or selected retailers in Australia, the UK and Singapore.
