Description

Located 20 minutes east of Bunbury within the lush Ferguson Valley, this estate was one of the first vineyards to be planted in the region. Established by the Giumelli Family in 1983, the property's rich soils are home to the 3 hectare vineyard in which the family has planted award-winning vines.

The Wines

Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Verdello and Tempranillo varieties are all grown at Ferguson Falls Wines and used to make their single variety lines and in blends to produce their famous Primavera Rosso (Chilled Red), the Autunno Bianco (semi sweet white) and their Shiraz Tempranillo named The Mostyn.  Supported by locally produced Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes to produce their SBS wine.  Home to some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Ferguson Valley with the first cuttings planted in 1983.

Cellar Door

Generous samples of the estate's wines are available at the cellar door, Friday through Sunday from 10am - 4pm. Alternative times for tastings can be arranged by appointment.

The Food

Ferguson Falls Estate’s delicious stone-baked American and Italian style gourmet pizzas received the Gold Plate Award in 2017. There’s also a range of cheeses, created from the farm’s dairy milk available to enjoy as well as desserts and Gesha coffee. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 4pm.

Description

Jan and Merv Hart purchased their Ferguson Valley property in 1993 and planted the first vineyard in 1995. All wines are made with fruit from the estate, and state-of-the-art viticultural techniques are utilised to manage their immaculate vineyard.

The Wines

Varieties include Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz Grenache Mouvedre, Shiraz and Port.

Cellar Door

Operated by Jan, the cellar door is well-known for excellent cake, coffee, fine art and cards for sale alongside generous tastings of the estate's wines. Open weekends and public holidays 11am - 5pm.

Description

Green Door Vineyard & Winery is a small boutique winery in the Ferguson Valley. Ashley & Kath Keeffe purchased the run-down vineyard in 2006 and set about restoring and replanting, with the Grenache and Tempranillo finding near perfect conditions. Other grapes in the vineyard include Monastrell, Shiraz, Fiano, and Verdelho.

Ashley is very conscious of soil health and the vineyard is managed with a minimal intervention ethos, creating fruit with great flavour. All grapes are handpicked and basket pressed, with all wines made on the property by Ashley and consultant winemaker, Vanessa Carson. Various different wine making techniques are used including the use of Amphora pots for fermentation, cold soaking on skins and the addition of whole bunches to ferments.

There is a cellar door cafe on the property serving sharing style grazing platters showcasing local produce. The focal point of the cellar door is the grand green door, imported from Fez, Morocco. The Moorish theme of the winery and cafe menu matches the predominantly Spanish/European characteristics of the wines. Ash, Kath and their team take great satisfaction in being involved in the whole process of growing, making and sharing the enjoyment of the wines.

Hackersley

A little piece of paradise in the Ferguson Valley, voted as one of “The 10 best new wineries” in Australia and winner of the Gold plate Award for the best Restaurant in a Winery in Regional WA.

Jeff and Kerry Ovens originally had eyes on Margaret River to start up their Vineyard, but found the prime land they were looking for in the Ferguson Valley. Originally a dairy farm for than 100 years, the land was perfect for a Vineyard and 15,000 rootling’s were planted in 1998.

In 2014 Hackersly won the Gold plate Award for the best Restaurant in a Winery in Regional WA. The restaurant and cellar door have a casual atmosphere and offer locally sourced food paired with tastings of fine wines. The restaurants and cellar door are open Thursday - Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Restaurant bookings are recommended. Look out for our Sunday Lunchtime Jazz sessions.

Description

The 10 hectare property was purchased in 1991 by Phil and Mary Smith, who wished to partake in horticulture from a base nearby Bunbury where Phil works as an anaesthetist. The property was planted with citrus trees and table grapes, before they made the exciting progression to wine grapes on the estate in 1997. Subsequent plantings ensued . With focus on extraction and blending to craft the perfect wine, with minimal impact the team at Saint Aidan aim to create 'Art in a Bottle'. 

Home grown varietals include Chardonnay, Cabernet, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Malbec and Tempranillo.

Cellar Door

Nestled between the Sauvignon and Semillon vines and the Ferguson River is the rammed earth Cellar Door Restaurant. The building was sympathetically designed to blend in with the surroundings and reflect the design of the neighbouring Church from where the estate takes its name. Saint Aidan's award-winning wines can be sampled Monday to Friday 11am - 4pm, and weekends 11am - 5pm. A large range of homemade preserves like ‘Grandmas Tomato Relish’ are also available to purchase, as is a range of artwork from regional artists.

The Food

The Cellar Door Restaurant Menu focuses on the best seasonal offerings, using local ingredients wherever possible for soups, mains and sumptious desserts. The recently refurbished space can seat up to 60 guests in climate controlled comfort.

There are also picnic and gas barbecue facilities under the Peppermint trees at the estate, on the banks of the Ferguson River with plenty of space and family cricket games are welcomed!

St Aidan Wines also hosts a variety of Events throughout the year from their Summer Film on the Ferguson Outdoor Cinema to the iconic Annual Tempranillo Tasting Day in August.

The 150 seat Function Centre adjacent to the Cellar Door is an ideal Venue for Weddings, Corporate or other Special Events.

Description

After an extensive search, Jeff and Vicki Dewar found their Ferguson Valley property, situated high on the western watershed of the Darling Ranges. In 1997 they planted vines on the picturesque, 180 hectare hillside property, which high rainfall, dry summer seasons and Marri soils to produce quality fruit for premium wine production. Respected Western Australian winemaker Rob Bowen joined the team in 1999.

The Wines

Wines are made under four labels; Dragonfly, Estate, Black Dog and Maris Sol. Varieties include Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon and a Tempranillo Cabernet and a traditional method Blanc de Blancs.

Cellar Door

In the heart of one of Western Australia’s most picturesque wine areas, Ferguson Valley, join the friendly staff for a fun and informative wine tasting of the full wine range. There are also quirky wine accessories available for purchase. Open weekdays 11am - 5pm, and weekends 12pm - 5pm.
