Swimming holes, waterfalls, ?shing locations and tropical farmland; these are just parts of the adventure experiences waiting for you when you take a Kununurra helicopter flight. Some flights include landings to fish in a wild river or enjoy a picnic and swim in secret springs. Choose a short flight or a longer itinerary with multiple remote landings.

Bungle Bungle Tours

From Purnululu, Warmun, Kununurra and Lake Argyle

Take a helicopter flight over the Kimberley with HeliSpirit over the world heritage listed Purnululu National Park, commonly known as the Bungle Bungle. There are ancient sandstone domes over 350 million years old, striped in orange and black. Only from a helicopter can you see the Livistona palm trees clinging to the sides of the deep canyons.

Mitchell Falls Tours

A helicopter flight over the Mitchell Falls and the Kimberley Coastline provides stunning views of this beautiful, remote area. Our flights depart from the Mitchell Falls campground from April to early October. Choose from a 6 minute transfer flight, which is an exciting way to view the spectacular four tiered Mitchell Falls and surrounding area from above as well as not having to walk one way. You can take a longer 18 minute or 48 minute flight to the Kimberley coastline and still be dropped off or picked up at the Mitchell Falls.

Helifishing

HeliSpirit ?shing adventures are suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers. Prepare for a truly breathtaking experience as you ?y to an exclusive location that is only accessible by helicopter. Fish from some incredibly diverse locations ranging from saline coastal flats, floodplain and barrage systems, billabongs and spectacular gorges as you look to land a legendary ‘Barra’.

Lake Argyle Tours

In the remote Kimberley region in the north of Western Australia is a gigantic fresh water lake nestled amongst an ancient weathered landscape. You can be assured of magni?cent scenery and a sense of peaceful isolation, whilst we at HeliSpirit take care of your safety and convenience. Discover the majestic Ragged Ranges up close or choose to land at a secret waterhole for an idyllic picnic and swim.

Katherine Gorge Tours

Experience the rush of a helicopter ride over the vast chasms of Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. Feast on an aerial view of the mighty, magni?cent gorge system and the extensive Arnhem Land Plateau. Choose from 6 helicopter flights ranging from 8 to 45 minutes duration, allowing extraordinary views of the river system, waterfalls and deep gorges. A photographer’s delight!

Karratha and Dampier Archipelago Scenic Flights

You’ll be astonished at the picturesque views of the Dampier Archipelago and the stunning blue water when viewed from our helicopter. The contrast between the bright white beaches and the rugged Pilbara landscape is a breathtaking sight. Keep an eye out for turtles, manta rays, dugongs and a range of other marine life.

El Questro Helicopter Tours

From El Questro Station or Emma Gorge Resort

Although there are many ways to experience the diversity of El Questro, few experiences can compare to a helicopter flight. Discover El Questro’s most secluded attraction, the Miri Miri Falls or land at Amaroo Falls for a picnic, hike and swim in a pristine waterhole. Kingfisher Tours and staff have a long standing relationship in the Kimberley and provide an insightful and informative perspective on the Kimberley Region.

Aboriginal and local guides run the tours on country, delivering a unique product and sharing the rich history of the region on our small group adventures into the heart and soul of the Kimberley; the stories of the land and the dreamtime are experiences that are not forgotten in this part of the world.

Once we land at our incredible destinations our guests are welcomed to country by their Kingfisher local guide, then head off on the ground tour up the beautiful Mitchell Falls, along the north coast, into the Bungles or the famous Argyle Diamond mine.

Guest accommodation is at our partner APT’s pristine wilderness and coastal lodges in the Bungle Bungles or Mitchell Falls.  We fly into El Questro, Emma Gorge, Home Valley, Berkeley River Resort, Bullo River Station, Kimberley Coastal Camp and Far Away Bay to pick up and drop off guests for any of our tours and are able to provide overnight packages at these locations.

Kingfisher Tours are very conscious of our pristine wilderness that we live and tour in. Tourism does not have to have a large footprint on the environment and local culture. As such we have introduced several initiatives to minimise the single use plastic in the business and continue to encourage other tour operators to do the same. We also believe tourism is an important industry to generate future employment and pride for local people. We work closely with other businesses to grow and support this ethos.

Kingfisher Tours want to ensure a positive experience for local people, tourism companies, and tourists alike.

Triple J Tours

Triple J Tours offers one of Australia's longest daily river cruises. An extraordinary 55km (one way) on the section of the Ord River known as Lake Kununurra between the Ord Top Dam and Diversion Dam

  • Open days/Times:April - October
  • Tour Price:From $145
  • Suited For:Families
  • Type:Tours

Details

  • Tour Capacity:Full Day
  • Tour Locations:Ord River between Kununurra and the Ord Top Dam at Lake Argyle.

Description

Triple J Tours have been offering one of the longest daily river cruises in Australia between Kununurra and the Ord Top Dam at Lake Argyle, in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, since 1988.

This extraordinary cruise covers the wilderness area between Kununurra and the Ord Top Dam, a 55-kilometre expedition along the most beautiful river and gorge country in Australia. Highlighting the development of the ambitious Ord River Irrigation Scheme, the resulting agriculture and the consequent ecosystem that has flourished after the Kununurra Diversion Dam was constructed in 1963, you will be amazed at what its creation has achieved.

Triple J Tours provides one of the most exhilarating and educational tours in WA and their skippers are knowledgeable and friendly.

You will enjoy a range of experiences including wildlife interpretation, photography, bird watching, geology appreciation, cultural interpretation, history and agriculture.  Admire spectacular scenery, flora, bird life, crocodiles and flying foxes all from the comfort of one of their vessels aptly named ‘Peregrine’, ‘Harrier’ and ‘Osprey’.  Fully shaded and with toilets on-board, these vessels cruise the river with ease and are ergonomically constructed so as to cause as little damage as possible to the river bank.

Touring options can include a 70km coach transfer through ‘Durack country’ from Kununurra to Lake Argyle (or vice versa).  This includes a visit to the historic Durack Homestead Museum.  This magnificent homestead was originally built in 1895 by the Durack family on Argyle Downs Station (now mostly submerged by the lake).  During the early 1970’s a decision was made to remove the Homestead before Lake Argyle began to fill in order to preserve this magnificent building for all time.  The Homestead was dismantled stone by stone with every stone coded in such a way so as to be able to be rebuilt with every stone back in its original position.  The homestead now lives on as a museum dedicated to the pioneering spirit of the Durack family.

You may also select an option that includes a home-made buffet lunch or afternoon tea at one of the companies secluded riverside camps on the banks of the river.

Triple J Tours has vessels that can seat between 28 and 50 people.  Book now for not only the longest but also one of the best, most informative river cruises in Australia.

Trekking rugged countryside, filled with a unique diversity of flora, fauna and wild river systems, these treks provide access to traditional Aboriginal land and allow glimpses into traditional life, alongside the history of the pastoral industry pioneers.

Black Tracks also offers exclusive, small group Art Treks deep in the West Kimberley. These Treks involve the discovery of ancient rock art galleries featuring 20,000 year old Aboriginal art including, the Bradshaws and the Wandjinas.

Endurance Walks
The Remote Wilderness Treks come with varying physical demands. The four walks - The Durack, Carr Boyd, Speewah and Purnululu involve carrying up to 15-20kg packs for 7-8 days over diverse terrain. With the correct preparation and support from our qualified Trek Leaders, anyone with reasonable levels of fitness can enjoy this special experience. Please see our Fitness Prepartion for more information on getting prepared.

Each night will be spent in a different, isolated and stunning location where will set up camp under the breathtaking Kimberley night sky. Where possible, we camp by rivers so we can try our luck with the local barramundi.

Day Pack Walks

We have also designed a special trek for those who would rather spend the day trekking without the heavy weight of a backpack. The Dunham trek involves one or two base camps which the group return to at the end of each day. We use 4WDs and walking to discover art, waterfalls and stunning landscapes still off the beaten track and isolated parts of the East Kimberley.

With this in mind, Kununurra Cruises aims to add to the tourism product range and experience of visitors by offering a "Lake Kununurra Sunset BBQ Dinner Cruise".
