Description

Established in 2000, the Brash Vineyard comprises 18 hectares of vines surrounded by pristine jarrah and marri forest, set on hilly terrain in Yallingup, in the north of the Margaret River wine region.

The majority of fruit is grown for other wineries, while a small portion is made under the Brash Vineyard label. The wines are made by respected local winemaker Bruce Dukes, and just 250 cases of each of its four wines are made each vintage.

Margaret River varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are the focus. Wines can be purchased from retailers in the South-West and Perth.

Description

Taking their name from Bunker Bay in the stunning Cape Naturaliste peninsula located at the north of the Margaret River wine region, Bunkers Wines forms part of Calneggia Family Vineyards. The all-occasions wines combine two of Margaret River’s most beloved attractions: surfing and wine.

A wide range of varieties are made to suit most palates including Chardonnay, Cabernet Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Rose, Savuginon Blanc Semillon, Shiraz and Tempranillo. There’s no cellar door, however specialised Bunkers 'Speed Tastings' can be arranged for groups of 40-60 people at workplaces or events around Perth.

Unique Highlights

Bunker Wine’s unique guided wine tour explores six beautiful bays and gnarly reefs along the Margaret River coast, accompanied with a creative wine tasting. Contact the winery for details.

Description

Michael Hutton grew up on a vineyard, then pursued a career as an architect before following his passion back to Margaret River. These days Michael makes wines in his garage in the traditional ‘garagiste’ style. (definition: a passionate winemaker who creates fine, limited wines, occasionally from his or her garage).

Three wines are made; a Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The fruit is sourced from exceptional local vineyards in Margaret River, handpicked and made with passion and precision in tiny batches.

Description

Gaining his degree in wine science from Charles Sturt University before working at Domaine Louis Chapuis in Burgundy, followed by winemaking terms at Leeuwin Estate, Sandalford Estate and Fermoy, Michael Kelly began his family-operated label in Yallingup in 1999. The winery has received consecutive 5 star ratings from James Halliday since 2009, and was named one of his “Top Ten Best New Wineries of 2013”. 

The Wines

Varieties include an award-winning Shiraz grown in Donnybrook in the Geographe Wine Region, Margaret River’s flagship varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and estate-grown Vermentino and Nebbiolo. The Vermentino he imported directly from Italy and waited 10 years for three cuttings to become enough productive vines to make the first vintage of the wine.

Owner Jeremy Muller searched far and wide for the perfect site to grow wine after being introduced to White Burgundy by his father and now makes a tidy range of wines in Margaret River.

Description

The Peccavi estate was established in 1996 by Jeremy Muller who searched the world for his perfect vineyard site, including going to the extreme of exploring ancient Roman vineyard sites in the UK. The vineyard is located in the ideal climate of Yallingup where Peccavi's uncompromising approach ensures the production of premium quality fruit from 16 hectares of thriving vineyards. Wines are made by a team of winemakers with impressive international accolades behind them.

The Wines

The 'Peccavi' range is produced from estate-grown fruit focusing on Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc Semillon. The 'No Regrets' range blends parcels of fruit from the region to produce Cabernet Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc Semillon in easy-drinking styles. Wines can be purchased online or at various stockists throughout Australia and internationally.

Description

Owned and operated by Paul and Jenny Simpson, this charming 6.5 hectare vineyard is located in the rolling hills of Yallingup. They took over the established vineyard in 2006. The Simpsons have a long history within Australia's wine industry, with Paul's father Brian's involvement in the Hunter Valley region. 

The vineyard is located 100m above sea-level and operated with organic principles.

Simpson Estate wines are made by Clive Otto, a former Australian Winemaker of the Year who adapts an organic approach to accentuate the terroir, fruits and viticultural environment of this well-drained, north-facing vineyard. 

The Wines

Hand picked and hand-crafted with age-ability in mind, the estate specialises in 'Bordeaux-blend' Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Cabernet Shiraz - all of which can be purchased online only. 

Stonegaze Vineyard

It's truly a family affair at this micro vineyard that operates with organic principles and minimal intervention winemaking.

Owners Wayne and Jill McGriskin established Stonegaze (formerly Stonegate) vineyard in 2009 after a lifetime of working in finance and raising two daughters in Perth. This sustainable vineyard is meticulously operated by the pair, who, along with award-winning contract winemaker Josephine Perry, apply minimal interference to produce a range of premium wines. The Wines A dry grown single vineyard Bordeaux inspired Cabernet blend and Malbec are made each vintage and both are named after Wayne and Jill’s grandchildren, namely “Isabella” and “Noah”.
