GLORIA! PRESENTED BY PERTH SYMPHONIC CHORUS In a year so challenged by the travails of Covid-19 it’s wonderful to present a concert of positively uplifting and exciting music. Conducted by Margaret pride OAM, the Chorus will perform Rutter’s joyous Gloria for mixed chorus, brass & percussion, built on exciting jazz rhythms and infectious melodies. Poulenc’s Gloria for soprano soloist, choir and full orchestra is colourful and unexpectedly melodic; its vibrant orchestral accompaniment adds beautiful harmonic piquancy to the choral line along with a compelling rhythmic drive and buoyancy. As a foil for these contagiously exciting works the chamber choir will present Arvo Pärt’s exquisitely subdued and reflective Gloria from the Berliner Messe, and brilliant organist Alessandro Pittorino will demonstrate his virtuosic skills performing Poulenc’s Organ Concerto. Saturday 2 October 2021 at 7:30pm Winthrop Hall, UWA Tickets: $10-$69 from ticketsWA.com or call 6488 2440 or click on the following link: https://www.ticketswa.com/event/gloria-PSC

University Theatres The Listies and Critical Stages Touring present HAMLET: PRINCE OF SKIDMARK A Badapatation of the Bard in the October school holidays! Created by Richard Higgins, Matt Kelly & Declan Greene A very cheeky, very clever, utterly irreverent riff on Hamlet – made especially for children. The Listies, maestros of children’s entertainment, have pulled apart Shakespeare’s classic and glued it back together with hilarious costumes, loads of silliness and plenty of interactivity. Hamlet is already full of things kids love in a good story: ghosts, castles, sword fights, bodily fluids and spooky stuff. Add to the mix some supersonic gags and expertly timed stage magic and you have a brilliantly disguised Shakespearean tragedy for everyone aged five and over. And that’s not all… expect bonus pillow fights, pirates, ninjas, ninja pirates, aliens, ninja pirate aliens, zombies and a bunch of other hilarious stuff as The Listies take kids and their adults on a fun-filled hour of theatre. The only thing we can be sure of is that everyone dies at the end – including the audience! Age range: 5+

G&S WA proudly presents The Sorcerer – the toe-tapping, spellbinding musical that started it all! Gilbert & Sullivan’s inaugural full-length collaboration, The Sorcerer is filled with memorable characters, witty and wonderful music, and a tantalizing story-line. The tiny town of Ploverleigh is a happy place, busy with preparations for the engagement of Aline, the blue-blood daughter of Lady Sangazure; to Alexis, an officer of the Grenadier Guards and son of Sir Marmaduke Poindextre. Other romances are also waiting to bloom, as the smitten Constance pines for the oblivious Dr Daly, and Sir Marmaduke confesses a long held secret affection for Lady Sangazure. Wishing everyone could be as happy as he is, Alexis declares that love should have no rank or social distinctions and employs the services of a Sorcerer to brew a love potion so the whole town may experience the joys of romantic bliss. Filtered into the tea served at the engagement celebration, all are soon under its intoxicating influence. However, topsy turvy mismatches are awakened! Will true love survive? Celebrate The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of WA’s 70th Anniversary Year, an enchanting event not to be missed!

University Theatres presents a Windmill Theatre Company Production GRUG Based on the much-loved picture book character created by Ted Prior. Grug began his life as the top of a Burrawang tree that fell to the ground. Resembling a small, striped haystack with feet and a nose, Grug is fascinated by the world around him and solves everyday problems creatively and without fuss. When dancing instructions are too difficult to understand, he invents his own dance and calls it ‘The Grug’. When snails eat his cabbages, Grug plants more cabbages so there will be enough for both him and the snails. Celebrating 10 years of performances in 2020, Ted Prior’s hugely popular character is brought to life in Windmill’s magical stage production. Having performed to more than 50,000 children and families worldwide, Grug is perfect for our youngest theatre lovers. Age group: 2 - 6 years old | Preschool to Year 2 Director Sam Haren Designer Joathon Oxlade Composer DJ TR!P Grug is a Windmill Theatre Company production. Gecko Ensembles are Barking Gecko Theatre's weekly drama classes for children. It’s where self-expression leads to self-confidence, stretching their imaginations in exciting directions. Gecko Ensembles question, explore, imagine and create.

Gecko Ensembles focus on the learning that comes from engaging with drama processes, rather than focussing on an end of term production. Through exploring some of life's big questions children develop collaboration and communication skills and build resilience and empathy. They challenge themselves, listen to each other, learn new skills and most importantly, have fun!

Gecko Ensembles celebrate children’s diverse ideas, interests and imagination. Children act as our creative consultants, exploring the same content as Barking Gecko’s artistic teams are exploring in our rehearsal rooms.

At Barking Gecko Theatre we believe when children’s creativity is nurtured, their potential is endless!
