Situated on a headland, Green Head boosts several white sandy bays which are great for swimming and snorkeling or try your hand at fishing from the beaches and jetties. Alternatively enjoy the amazing scenery and abundance of Wildflowers on the walking trails around the Headland or take a picnic among stunning Fauna and Flora in the Lesueur National Park. Green head is a perfect location to visit the nearby Sea Lions or the Stockyard Gully Caves are just a short drive inland. Adjacent to the caves you will find Little Three Springs this is an oasis among shrub covered sand dunes. The Pinnacles are a short drive south and are a must see.

The Pinnacles: There are many stories circulating about who found the Pinnacles, how old they are and how did they form. In the mid 1600s some Dutch explorers stumbled upon the Pinnacles and thought they were the remains of an ancient civilisation. During sunrise and sunset as the play of light bring out the colours and the extended shadows of the formation delivers a contrast that bring out their features. A visitor precinct and interpretive centre was completed in 2008, many of your questions will be answered here.

Walking Trails: During the cooler months, bushwalking is a popular past time. In town, try the trail around the Headland from the jetty around to South Bay or head out to the Lesueur National Park.

Mount Lesueur National Park: The town site of GreenHead is surrounded by reserves-national park. Mt Leisure National Park covers 2700 hectares and is world renowned for its diversity of wild flowers. 1200 species have been identified but not surprisingly there are still over 300 species to be identified.

The department of environment has improved the infrastructure by installing bitchimized loop for the discovering and viewing of the unique flora and fauna. The best season to see the wildflowers in bloom is from August through until October.

Stockyard Gully Caves: The Stockyard Gully Caves are just a short drive inland from CentreBreak Beach Stay, this forms part of the old north stock route, this runs between Champion Bay (Geraldton) North Beach (Perth). The cave is an underground river bed with ravine at one end, this was used as a stockyard by the drovers for a stop over when droving there stock to market. The caves make for an interesting discovery while exploring the many attractions Green Head has to offer. There are picnic and toilet facilities available. 4WD only.

Little Three Springs: Adjacent to the caves you will find Little Three Springs, this is an oasis among shrub covered sand dunes and is made up of three natural springs; this was one of the watering holes used for the horses and stock along the old North Stock Route. You can still see the brumbies drinking here if you’re lucky.

The world famous “Pinnacles” can be visited being only a short distance from Indian Ocean Drive. Jurien Bay is only 20 minutes from the Pinnacles.

JURIEN BAY MARINA
Jurien Bay boasts of a Marina that was built for the Cray Fishing industry. Today, you can take a Charter boat to go fishing or a day to look at the Sea Lions. The Marina is also the entry into the prestine Jurien Bay Marine Park which consists of 100km of coastline where Sea Lions, Dolphins and Whales can be seen. There are many islands and reefs that provide protective habitats for an enormous variation of sea life.

LESUEUR NATIONAL PARK
Mt Lesueur is the tallest of the ranges and the park is extremely rich in species of flora with more than 900 known species, which is equivalent to 10% of the states known flora. Surveys have found 52 species of reptiles (41 lizards, 11 snakes), 122 species of native birds and 15 species of mammals. There are picnic sites and walk trails within the park.

STOCKYARD GULLY CAVES
These caves are situated north east of Jurien Bay via the Cockleshell Gully Road. The caves are only accessible by 4 wheel drive vehicles. The main cave is 330 metres long and it follows a creek bed. A torch is required as there are sometimes pools of water. The cave was used by stockmen in the later half of the last century to provide feed and water while travelling from Geraldton to Perth.
