The Busselton Museum, situated in the scenic Vasse River region of Western Australia, is a captivating spot for history enthusiasts and tourists. Located within the Old Butter Factory Precinct, the museum occupies one hectare of land and showcases the area's diverse history, encompassing forestry, maritime activities, and agriculture.
Featuring a wide array of collections, the museum highlights various facets of Busselton's past. Noteworthy exhibits include a replica of the old Busselton Jetty Rotunda, a reconstructed Group Settler cottage, a one-teacher schoolhouse, and a small hut from the World War II RAAF Aerodrome in Busselton. Themed rooms within the Old Butter Factory shed light on industries like dairy, timber, and agriculture, as well as maritime history, while upstairs displays delve into domestic life, showcasing items such as a small box adorned with echidna quills.
Operating from Wednesday to Monday between 10 am and 4 pm during summer, the museum is closed on Tuesdays for artifact maintenance and display creation by volunteer staff. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the picturesque surroundings of the Old Butter Factory Precinct.
