Their huge, family-friendly cellar door is the perfect place to discover the world of WA’s extraordinary southern wine regions.

The Wines
3 Oceans Winemaking philosophy is simple; grow great fruit, nurture it through fermentation and maturation to bottle and let the vineyard terroir express itself in the wines. The range includes everything from easy drinking to ultra-premium Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Wine Tasting
The cellar door is one of the largest in the region and set up especially for kids, families and large groups. Complimentary tastings of over 10 wines are available every day from 10am to 5pm. Group tastings can be booked in advance and are required for large groups of 50+ people.

The Food
The café is open daily from 9am for breakfast and lunch and serves casual fare through to restaurant style seafood dishes, including the famous South-West marron. Locally-sourced Yahava Coffee is available with cakes and a kids menu.

Highlights
Kids will love their own designated hang-out zone which includes video games, toys, chalkboards and outdoor sports equipment. The grounds are large enough for a game of cricket!

Visiting in March? 3 Oceans is the home of the South West Craft Beer Festival, a lively day offering the opportunity to discover 120+ local brews from 20+ breweries, wineries and cideries based between Mandurah and Denmark.

Description

Aravina Estate was established in 2010 by Perth businessman and sixth generation West Australian, Steve Tobin. Named one of Australia’s “Ten Best New Wineries” (2014) by James Halliday, Aravina Estate offers a mix of memorable experiences for the whole family. While adults enjoy the distinct, quality, regional wines, kids love the European-designed-playground and museums.

The Wines
The first vines were planted in 1986 on prime country in Yallingup and benefits from rich, free-draining lateritic soils, characteristic of the region. The wine-production incorporates some of the world's most innovative viticultural practices, including the use of natural pest reduction remedies and minimal application of sprays. Margaret River’s main wine varieties are all made here, along with Chenin Blanc and Tempranillo.

Wine Tasting
Sample and learn about the wines at the Cellar Door. As there are so many wines to taste, we do charge a $6 tasting fee per person, which is deducted from any wine purchase and complimentary if dining in our restaurant.

Culinary Experiences
The Aravina Estate Restaurant offers fine-dining in an elegant, “Vogue-living” style setting, as reviewed by local critic Rob Broadfield from The West Australian. The menu focuses on local, sustainable produce, sourced from a growing collection of local farmers, as well as estate grown produce. The dishes are designed to pair with the Aravina Estate wines. Bookings are recommended, especially during holiday periods. For something more casual, unwind on the lawn and enjoy a Aravina grazing board or Pizza from our newly opened Pizza Bar. Visit on the weekends and enjoy live gigs on the lawn for the whole family to enjoy.

After indulging in stunning food and wine, discover the orchards, gardens and museums too. The Car Museum has an ever-changing range of European classics and Australian muscle cars on display.


The WA Surf Museum chronicles the local surf culture and history with an impressive collection of vintage surfboards and cool memorabilia to check out.

Culinary Experiences

The Pasta
A vast range of pasta is made on site. Watch the pasta being made and buy some to enjoy at home! All pasta is made with top grade semolina flour and fresh eggs, laid by happy Margaret River chickens.

The Wine
Enjoy small-batch wines, handpicked by owners Raminta and Egidijus Rusilas and their family and friends. Wine styles include Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet blends.

Local Honey – 100% Raw & Real
Barnyard 1978 works with local independent beekeepers to deliver varietal honeys from around WA. The range is constantly evolving based on natural supplies. Typically, there are seven or more varieties available for free tastings including Marri, Karri, Red Bell, Wandoo, White Gum and  Blackbutt.

Description

This delightful winery is located in the heart of Margaret River. Owners Noni and Bill Ilic are hands-on in all aspects of the business, from planting and tending the vines, winemaking and hand-selling their wines from the cellar door. Making premium wines is their passion, which happens to also be their business.

The Wines
The Beckett’s Flat vineyard was first planted in 1992. The vineyard is managed primarily with organic practices and the wines are all made on site in the pair’s small, but well-equipped winery.

Early success in Australian and overseas wine shows led the Ilic’s to focus their wines style toward making delicious, food-friendly, early drinking wines that are fruit-driven and elegant. The stunning range includes diverse styles from traditional method Sparkling White and Rosé to dry, crisp and fruity whites, elegant reds and even a White Port. Their Five Stones label is recognised for producing Australia’s finest Kosher and vegan-friendly wines.

Wine Tasting
The boutique Cellar Door is located just off Bussell Highway and open daily most days. Be sure to greet the doorman ‘Raff’, a Sable German Shephard. He especially loves visitors that throw a stick for him. Wines are very reasonably priced with generous case specials too. Cellar door open 10am to 5pm

Unique Highlights
Owner / Winemaker Bill’s other passion is photography and he has studied under renowned US photographers Fred Picker (Zone VI) and George de Wolfe. The cellar door doubles as a gallery showcasing Bill’s stunning images of the region in all its natural glory. A selection of old cameras and photographic equipment are exhibited too.

Bridgetown Winery

Situated on the Black River just 9km from Bridgetown townsite, handcrafted Shiraz, Cabernet, Sparkling and Fortified wines can be tasted at the cellar door, by appointment only.

Description

Bridgetown Winery is a stunning 14 acre property sitting alongside the Blackwood River.

Shiraz wines are produced from grapes grown on the property. Any other grape varieties used are from vineyards in the Blackwood Valley. The tawny and ruby ports are produced from Shiraz grapes grown on the property.

Priding itself on producing low-intervention wines, all fertilisers are certified organic and fining of the wine is done by filtering and animal products are not part of the fining process.

Wines were previously produced in the Estate’s pump shed until the winery expanded and opened a cellar door in 2014. The Cellar door is open by appointment only on most days from 10am to 5pm.
 

Brookland Valley Estate

Enjoy the regional wines of James Halliday’s Australian Winery of the Year (2009) at the cellar door and French-inspired fare at Flutes Restaurant, in idyllic surrounds beside the Wilyabrup Brook.

Since 1984, Brookland Valley has been one of Margaret River’s most awarded wineries, reaching new levels of success when it was named ‘Winery of the Year’ by James Halliday’s Wine Companion in 2009.

Situated in a picturesque valley beside Wilyabrup Brook, Brookland Valley’s idyllic site is less than 2km from the Indian ocean and features a north-east facing, wind shielded microclimate which is planted to close-set, spur-pruned vines.

The Wines
Brookland Valley’s benchmark wine range focuses on classic grape varieties sourced entirely from Margaret River. Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are the focus, made in a minimal intervention winemaking style, making the terroir the focus throughout the portfolio of Reserve, Estate, Verse 1 and Small Batch labels.

Wine Tastings
With breathtaking views of the Wilyabrup Brook, the cellar door offers the full range of Brookland Valley wines for tasting and sale. It is also home to a fine gallery of wine and food related gifts and accessories, including a selection of fine glassware. 

The Food
Set in the natural surrounds of Brookland Valley Vineyard, Flutes Restaurant has earnt a reputation as one of the region's favourite premium, yet relaxed dining experiences. Executive Chef Francois Morvan brings an exotic mix of his French training plus a reverence for local seasonal produce to create an ever-changing menu.

Description

In 1995 Trevor and Lyn Mann decided it was time for a sea change, relocating to Margaret River in pursuit of an adventure in viticulture. With their experience limited to sampling plenty of the product, but armed with a vision and loads of self-belief, they dived straight into their new journey and planted 10,000 young vines of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The first harvest in 1999 was a momentous occasion.

The vineyard follows biological farming principles and the wines are 100% estate grown and made. The team believe it’s the small things that make the big difference and make their wines extra special. These days daughter Bronnley Cahill is in the winemaking driver’s seat.

The Wines
Taking the best of the old world and new world approaches to winemaking, Brookwood Estate makes wines with minimal intervention to capture the essence of their vineyard. The range includes sweet through to dry wines sparkling.

Wine Tasting
Relaxed, fun and informative tastings are hosted in the wrought iron and wood cellar door daily from 11am to 4.30pm. A selection of gourmet produce including dukkah and local extra virgin olive oil is available for tasting as well. Group bookings can be arranged in advance, starting from $5 per guest.

The Food
The winery café/restaurant is a hidden gem in the region, serving a delicious and generous contemporary Australian menu to pair with the Brookwood Estate Wines. Relax on the verandah and take in sweeping vineyard views while you dine, open 11am to 3pm. (It’s enclosed and cosy in winter.)

Taking their name from Bunker Bay in the stunning Cape Naturaliste peninsula located at the north of the Margaret River wine region, Bunkers Wines forms part of Calneggia Family Vineyards. The all-occasions wines combine two of Margaret River’s most beloved attractions: surfing and wine.

A wide range of varieties are made to suit most palates including Chardonnay, Cabernet Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Rose, Savuginon Blanc Semillon, Shiraz and Tempranillo. There’s no cellar door, however specialised Bunkers 'Speed Tastings' can be arranged for groups of 40-60 people at workplaces or events around Perth.

Description

Planted in 1996, Cape Grace is a proud ‘little winery’ in Margaret River owned by Robert & Karri-Davies, whose family has been part of the local community since 1875. The hand-crafted, single-vineyard wines are grown in their organically-managed property in Wilybrup, a site surrounded by natural forest.

The Wines
All of Margaret River’s signature varieties are made, along with a Chenin and a sparkling Chenin. All wines are made using traditional processes and the highly-awarded reds are hand plunged and basket-pressed.

Wine Tasting
One of the region’s quaint and rustic wineries, with a tin-shed-in-the-forest setting. Karen and Robert are behind the cellar door counter more often than not, providing the opportunity to ‘meet the maker’ and learn the ins and outs of being a small winemaker in Margaret River. During vintage (February – April) visitors may see some fermenting action in the winery and in spring (September – October) there’s also stunning wildflowers.

Unique Highlights
The wine storage area you enter through IS the right entrance! Look out for Robert’s photographs and paraphernalia on display including Robert’s private collection of Australian parrots in a natural bush setting. We are dog friendly and have a childens play area.

The philosophy behind the restaurant is to Match food and wine. The menu comprises of Match Plates where components match the characteristics in the recommended wine. Grazing plates & cheese plates are also available.

Description

In 2004 Sam Castelli purchased land and a partially finished winery building on what is now the Castelli Estate, with the intention of using it as a family holiday home.  After finishing the winery building, Sam decided to continue what the previous owners had started and turned it into an operating winery after all. So began a bright and star-studded journey. 

Sam Castelli didn’t stop the construction at a winery. The estate now boasts a cellar door which is open Wednesday to Monday, 11am to 4 pm, and an authentic Italian restaurant which is open Wednesday to Monday 12 pm to 3:30 pm for lunch and  Fridays and Saturdays 6pm to 9:30pm for dinner.  And also the newly renovated accomodation just next to the restaurant, with five Deluxe king size en-suites and expansive views over Mt Lindsay, the vineyards, and the green rolling hills and Karri trees so typical of the Denmark countryside.

The Wines
The wines are made by local winemaker Mike Garland and are consistently awarded high scores from national wine press, and enjoy medals and trophies at wine shows around Australia.

Five ranges of wine are sourced exclusively from the Home Block vineyard in Denmark, and vineyards in Mt Barker, Pemberton, The Porongurups and Frankland River.

Quietly spoken and considered winemaker Rob Diletti is renowned for his ability to coax the best from every parcel of fruit and vineyard that he handles, and for producing wines that year after year amass an unbelievable amount of high reviews, trophies and medals. Rob is also an extremely well-regarded and sought-after wine judge at shows around Australia, and contract winemaker for a large number of estates in and around the Porongurup sub-region. 

Castle Rock Estate was founded in the Porongroups in 1983 and from humble beginnings has grown into a 55ha property. 

The Wines
The riesling, pinot noir and shiraz are the heroes of the Castle Rock range. The rieslings have proven themselves to be exceedingly well suited to long-term cellaring, but are still approachable in their youth thanks to the white floral characterics of the Porongurup sub-region.  The pinot noir is famed for its consistency and silky, red cherry fruit, and the cool climate syrah is a shining light for the style.  Other wines include sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, cabernet franc, merlot and a dessert wine.

Description

This family owned, single-vineyard property was established in 1999. The Fokkema family selected the site for its ideal gravel loam soils, ample clean water and northern-facing slopes. The vineyard has been farmed organically for 15 years and is in the process of completing its ‘Certified Organic’ accreditation.

The Churchview vineyard is known to grow Margaret River’s most extensive amount of varieties within a single vineyard, with sixteen different types of grapes planted.

The Wines
The wines are made onsite at the property’s winery. Many are matured in oak, and Churchview prides itself on investing in the best quality French oak. Four wine ranges are made from the diverse varieties within the vineyard and offer easy drinking through to rare and fine collector wines. All the classic Margaret River varieties are made. The St Johns range features less-common varieties including a Zinfandel, Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre, Viognier and Marsanne.

Wine Tasting
The diverse wine range can be tasted at the Cellar Door which is located within a period cottage at the estate. The Heritage Listed St John the Baptist Anglican Church can be seen from the tasting room, hence the name. Many of the wines cannot be found for purchase anywhere other than the cellar door. Allow 30 minutes for a full tasting. Open 10am-5pm Monday to Saturday.

Dogs are welcome (on leash) and visitors are invited to bring a picnic and make a day of enjoying the beautiful wines, stunning vineyard views and manicured gardens.

First planted in 1976, Clairault Streicker has grown from a modest 4-hectare vineyard to a 200-hectare estate, incorporating four premium vineyards throughout Margaret River. The estate maintains an exceptional track record for its wines, which are grown following natural, biological farming principles.

Clairault Steicker combines two unique Margaret River wine stories. Streicker Wines began with a Yallingup vineyard in 2002, acquired by US native John Streicker who was so taken with the local lifestyle, sustainable viticulture ethos and world-class wines when visiting in 2001 that he decided to pursue his wine dreams in Margaret River. In 2012, historic estate Clairault Wines became part of the Streicker portfolio. Major enhancements have been made to all vineyard management to continually improve fruit and wine quality.

The Wines
The wine range celebrates the diversity of Margaret River’s hero varieties when grown in different areas of the wine appellation, with highlights including a single vineyard Cabernet made from 40 year old Wilyabrup vines and a cool-climate looking Syrah from Wallcliffe. It is a pure and unique journey through terroir in Margaret River. Look out for a few niche varieties in the mix too.

Wine Tasting
Follow a scenic driveway off Caves Road through farm land and native forest to the contemporary cellar door. A relaxing environment to discover the premium wines, it also offers a selection of house made produce available for sale. Private tours and tastings can be arranged in advance. Open 10am-5pm daily.

The Food
The Clairault Streicker Café serves up a selection of modern Australian share-plates for lunch daily. The menu showcases excellent produce, served simply, ideal for those who enjoy less formal dining. For the ultimate indulgence, spend an afternoon with the 5 course long lunch. A gorgeous stone fire-place makes for cosy dining in winter, while in summer, a picnic blanket in the gardens makes for a blissful lunch setting.

The Credaro Family have been making wine for their family since settling in Margaret River in the 1920s. Commercial operations began in the 1980s and these days the family manages 140 hectares of vines over seven vineyards throughout Margaret River.

The Credaro Family Estate Fragola (an Italian red variety) is a special wine, rich with family history. Cesar Credaro was the first generation of the family to reside in the Margaret River area in the 1920s. With the help of the family, he took some Fragola cuttings from a small vineyard in Yallingup where he worked and planted an acre at Carbunup, from which the family would make a parcel of wine every year for family and friends. The Fragola has evolved from site to site with each generation of the family, but a wine is made each year out of tradition!

The Wines
Credaro’s winemaking approach involves selecting the fruit best parcels from their vineyards to make the best regional wines each vintage. The grapes planted are Margaret River’s leading varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Merlot. Two special plots of Fragola and Gewurtztraminer are also planted. Credaro Family Wines make all of their wines onsite in their winery in Northern Margaret River.

The Tuscan-style Cellar Door is located 10 minutes from Dunsborough and takes in spectacular views of the Wildwood Valley, ideal for a picnic lunch on the Estate’s expansive, manicured lawn.

Description

The Cave is recognised as one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, holding evidence of life from 50,000 years ago. It was here that Phil Sexton, then an archaeology student and later Devil’s Lair founder and WA hospitality legend, found himself considering the idea of creating a wine label. In 1981 Phil purchased land nearby and the Devil’s Lair wine story began.

Devil’s Lair is known for its meticulous winemaking standards and environmentally focused viticulture. Their efforts towards sustainability have earnt them national Entwine accreditation. For every hectare of vineyard planted on the property, there is 1.14 hectares of natural vegetation retained or planted.

The Wines
The Devil’s Lair winemaking philosophy is to be meticulous, to continually question and challenge, and to refine a winemaking style that is as much about intuition as science. The label focuses on the varieties that fare best in Margaret River. Their chardonnays are known for their taut acidity, minerality, length and subtle oak, while the Cabernet is typically complex and layered with lively aromas. Three tiers enable all budgets to find their perfect Margaret River wine.

Driftwood Estate is a boutique winery set in the stunning Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River, Western Australia. Established by Tom and Helen Galopoulos in 1989 on what had previously been a country retreat, the winery immediately received acclaim when its first wine, a Semillon produced in 1993, won a special commendation in a British competition.

In 2009, leading Australian wine writer James Halliday rated Driftwood Estate as one of the best wineries in the Margaret River region. This result has continued into the 2018 Wine Companion, where Driftwood Estate has again been rated a 5 Star Winery. The vine resources are exceptional, having had years of nurturing to ensure they produce premium fruit showcasing the Wilyabrup sub-region beautifully.

The winemaking philosophy behind the Driftwood wines is one of simplicity – quality wines are made in the vineyard. The land on which the Ducketts Mill winery is located started out with a small 5 acre planting of riesling, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Additional plantings have increased the total vineyard area to 18 acres. 

Combining their love for cheese and wine, Ross and Dallas Lewis run a homely cellar door nestled in the lush Scotsdale Valley.  Set in an old timber farmstead and overlooking the vineyard, visitors can settle back and enjoy cheese platters matched to the cool-climate wines from the estate in Denmark. 

There are more than 40 varieties of cheese made under the Denmark Farmhouse Cheese brand and everything is made from locally sourced dairy produce. Left over milk is used to make ice-cream and fudge.

The Wines
Winemaker James Kellie is responsible for the concise collection of wines at Duckett’s Mill.  Sauvignon blanc, riesling, semillon, chardonnay, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and franc are all grown on the estate vineyards.  There is also a small collection of fortified wines, which are well-matched to the generous cheese and meat platters.

Chalice Bridge is the second largest single vineyard in Margaret River. It is family owned and operated by Jason and Alecia Brown. The Chalice Bridge name comes from the bridge over the Upper Chapman Brook, which runs through the middle of the vineyard.

The vineyard was established two decades ago with Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot.

Description

Located in Frankland River 90 kilometres from the coast amidst the Great Southern’s valleys and slopes, the Ferngrove site was selected in 1998. The vineyard is nestled in undulating farmland surrounded by olive groves, wheat, sheep and cattle which enable a sheltered environment to grow grapes, while it still receives the cooling ocean influence for elegant fruit.

Ferngrove Wines are known for their intense flavour, fine acid and tannins that are truly reflective of the Frankland River region style. A range of varieties are produced across multiple price brackets, delivering value at each level. Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet blends are the focus.

The winery is also the site of one of Australia’s largest winery solar power systems, using 696 panels to power all of its operations.

Wine Tasting

The grand Ferngrove Wines cellar door is situated among the stunning Stirling Ranges in Frankland River. Wine tastings are offered daily from 10am – 4pm.

Description

Owned and operated by Julie and Mark Moloney, the Fifth Estate vineyard was established in 1999 and is dedicated to the production of premium Geographe wines. Winemaker Peter Stanlake has been crafting small-batch wines within the Geographe region for over 20 years, and his personal attention to detail during every step of grape and wine production has seen the estate go from strength to strength.

Varieties include Chardonnay, Rose, Shiraz, Sparkling Shiraz and Tempranillo.

The winery is open by appointment only.
