The Wines
3 Oceans Winemaking philosophy is simple; grow great fruit, nurture it through fermentation and maturation to bottle and let the vineyard terroir express itself in the wines. The range includes everything from easy drinking to ultra-premium Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Wine Tasting
The cellar door is one of the largest in the region and set up especially for kids, families and large groups. Complimentary tastings of over 10 wines are available every day from 10am to 5pm. Group tastings can be booked in advance and are required for large groups of 50+ people.

The Food
The café is open daily from 9am for breakfast and lunch and serves casual fare through to restaurant style seafood dishes, including the famous South-West marron. Locally-sourced Yahava Coffee is available with cakes and a kids menu.

Highlights
Kids will love their own designated hang-out zone which includes video games, toys, chalkboards and outdoor sports equipment. The grounds are large enough for a game of cricket!

Devil's Lair

Description

The Cave is recognised as one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, holding evidence of life from 50,000 years ago. It was here that Phil Sexton, then an archaeology student and later Devil’s Lair founder and WA hospitality legend, found himself considering the idea of creating a wine label. In 1981 Phil purchased land nearby and the Devil’s Lair wine story began.

Devil’s Lair is known for its meticulous winemaking standards and environmentally focused viticulture. Their efforts towards sustainability have earnt them national Entwine accreditation. For every hectare of vineyard planted on the property, there is 1.14 hectares of natural vegetation retained or planted.

The Wines
The Devil’s Lair winemaking philosophy is to be meticulous, to continually question and challenge, and to refine a winemaking style that is as much about intuition as science. The label focuses on the varieties that fare best in Margaret River. Their chardonnays are known for their taut acidity, minerality, length and subtle oak, while the Cabernet is typically complex and layered with lively aromas. Three tiers enable all budgets to find their perfect Margaret River wine.

Driftwood Estate is a boutique winery set in the stunning Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River, Western Australia. Established by Tom and Helen Galopoulos in 1989 on what had previously been a country retreat, the winery immediately received acclaim when its first wine, a Semillon produced in 1993, won a special commendation in a British competition.

In 2009, leading Australian wine writer James Halliday rated Driftwood Estate as one of the best wineries in the Margaret River region. This result has continued into the 2018 Wine Companion, where Driftwood Estate has again been rated a 5 Star Winery. The vine resources are exceptional, having had years of nurturing to ensure they produce premium fruit showcasing the Wilyabrup sub-region beautifully.

The winemaking philosophy behind the Driftwood wines is one of simplicity – quality wines are made in the vineyard. While winemaking can have a positive input, having premium quality fruit is essential. This is why Driftwood Estate is so fortunate to be located in one of the greatest viticultural areas in the world, sourcing super premium fruit year in year out. With premium quality fruit, our wine making philosophy is all about protecting and expressing the qualities found in the grapes, so that the wine lover can enjoy the pure, varietal and regional flavours from the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River.


The wines are produced under four labels, Single Site, Artifacts, The Collection, and Oceania.

Our Single Site range of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the best of Driftwood Estate. Over the years, our vineyards have grown in maturity and pedigree, and we have produced Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2016 vintage to reflect this, with releases occurring soon.

Artifacts are the more complex styles, demonstrating the intense characters old vine fruit can develop, and once in the winery, utilising oak influence and subtle winemaking techniques resulting in wines of strength, elegance, and integrity that will drink beautifully young whilst also reward careful cellaring.

The Collection range showcases fruit driven, regionally renowned wines that are designed to be enjoyed in their youth – vibrant blends and crisp, clean wines for everyday drinking.

The Oceania range is predominately a cellar door and online range, offering a Rosé, a White Blend, a Sparkling and a Tawny.

The beautiful branding takes Driftwood back to its beginnings, with small batch, hand-crafted wines showing how age and experience in the wine world can lead to memorable Collections and stunning Artifacts for people to enjoy now and into the future.

Planting began at Evans & Tate in 1974 and the winery has a history of winemaking excellence, reflected in more than 50 trophies and 2,000 medals awarded at wine shows around the globe since 1987. Evans & Tate has a strong focus on crafting wines that people enjoy. Fittingly, one of Australia’s most popular, longstanding and widely-ranged everyday wines is the Evans & Tate Classic Semillon Sauvignon Blanc (Dry White).

Winemaker Matthew Byrne has been at the helm since 2001 and has been pivotal in the development of the estate’s wine style and reputation for quality across the inviting and creative entry-level styles through to the premium regional Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Wine Tastings

The modern cellar door overlooks the vineyard and its 40+ year old vines. Out in the vista, look out for kangaroos hopping in and out of the vines from the nearby National Park. The sound of the pounding ocean waves is audible from the deck. Enjoy a relaxed tasting through the range of styles and grape varietals between 10.30am - 4.30pm daily.

The label was established by hands-on winemaker Nigel Ludlow, who studied in New Zealand and worked in Hungary, South Africa and Spain before settling in Margaret River.

Located in the heart of Margaret River, the Evoi vineyards’ quality fruit is a result of its close proximity to the ocean, incredible regional soil types and an idyllic climate. 

The Wines
The Evoi premium wine range includes Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and a Bordeaux-style blend. The wines have received excellent critical acclaim including “WA Winery of the Year” at the 2015 Melbourne International Wine Show, and a sought-after 5 Red Star Rating from James Halliday.

Description

Built in 2002, Forester Estate focuses on making wines that showcase northern Margaret River’s wine style, leaning towards lighter, fruitier white wines and finely structured, elegant reds.

The vineyard was planted in 1995 and acquired by owners Kevin and Jenny McKay in 2001. The wines are made from estate-grown fruit and a selection of small “gems” of fruit sourced from the hills and valleys of nearby vineyards.

Magnificent Eucalypt trees surround the Estate, reminiscent of a thriving forestry trade, the primary industry of the region from the 1850s. The Estate still has a saw pit that was used by the original pioneers to mill timber, which was then transported by ox and cart to Yallingup-Siding, the nearby railway station. This timber, especially the hardwood Mahogany (Jarrah), was exported around the world. Even today, many streets of London lie on the Jarrah trees milled from the forests of Margaret River.

The name Forester Estate is derived from this history.

Gralyn Estate opened the region's first cellar door in 1978. Today's modern tasting room is a popular tourist destination situated on Caves Road Wilyabrup, in the heart of the Margaret River wine region.

 

Gralyn produces both dry and sweet wines and pioneered the region's first port styles in 1978. The Estate is family owned and operated and wines can only be purchased from their Cellar Door or their website. Visitors are welcome to taste the full range of wines free of charge and learn about the grapes and wine-making from the knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Description

Established in 2000 by the Hillier family, the estate is a single vineyard producer that also operates a microbrewery and accommodation from its premises. Situated 5km north of Collie, on the eastern border of the Geographe Wine Region, this prime location provides ironstone gravel soils and a cool altitude to enable production of premium wines with finesse and flavour.

The Wines

Harris River produce Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Merlot, Shiraz, Verdelho and Chardonnay. They also have the unique offer of purchasing wine in a keg, perfect for events or who like to keep their environment footprint minimal.

Cellar Door & Restaurant

Complimentary wine and beer tastings can be enjoyed alongside a tasty, seasonal tapas grazing menu. Open Wednesday to Sunday 12pm - 3:30pm. The restaurant is open for light, healthy breakfasts and tapas lunches from Friday to Sunday, 10am - 4pm. Description

Owners Ardal and Sue made a seachange from Perth to Pemberton with their two children in 2014. Ardal's 30 years of experience as a chef contributed greatly to the design and refurbishment of the estate's beautiful restaurant where he spends most of his time when not in the vineyard and gardens with Sue.

Only 3km from the Pemberton township, the vineyard at Hidden River Estate was established in 1994 and is situated on rich Karri loam soil. The vines have consistently produced exceptional berries from which the wines are produced, imbibed with the distinct fruit characters of the terroir and climate of cool nights and warm summer days.

The Wines

The wines are labelled with iconic illustrations by Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha and reflect the sophistication and elegance of Hidden River wines and are a celebration of nature and beauty. Varieties include an Unwooded Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Wooded Chardonnay, Sweet Chardonnay, Rose and Merlot. Wines are available for tasting and purchase at the estate's charming cellar door, open Wednesday to Sunday 10am - 4pm.

The Food

Overlooking the giant Karri trees of Pemberton, Chef-owner Ardal has continued a theme of nature and beauty through his menus, capturing the spectrum of tastes, flavours and fragrance from the regional produce.  He believes in genuine honest food which can come from traditional recipes as well as the new and novel approaches. His well-crafted dishes combine the art of taste with the knowledge of cooking.

Description

Family-owned Leeuwin Estate, one of the five founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River wine region, is under the stewardship of three generations, who work with a team of highly skilled winemakers to consistently produce wines ranking alongside the world's finest. 

In 1972, legendary Napa Valley winemaker, Robert Mondavi, identified the future site of the Leeuwin vineyard as being ideal for the production of premium wine and provided early mentorship to Denis and Tricia Horgan in the transformation of their cattle farm into Leeuwin Estate. Enjoying its first commercial vintage in 1979, Leeuwin was thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1981 "Art Series" Chardonnay. Unique Highlights
The Leeuwin Estate Art Gallery exhibits works by Australian artists, including many of the original paintings that feature on its icon Art Series wine labels. 

Described as one of Australia’s most extraordinary concerts, The Leeuwin Concert is one of Margaret River’s most famous events. Since 1985, it has attracted an enviable list of international performers from Ray Charles to Diana Ross, Sting, James Taylor and Simply Red. The prehistoric landscape and raw, wild coastline of South West WA has been the inspiration behind MadFish since it was first created in 1992. With grapes sourced from throughout the Margaret River and Great Southern wine regions, we try to capture these precious landscapes in a bottle, with their prehistoric soils, battered ocean cliffs, foaming surf and calm turquoise beaches.

The elements that define the MadFish range – wild, coastal and pure – are also what immerse visitors at our home, the Margaret River region.

Less than 5 minutes’ drive from world famous beaches and surf spots in the heart of Margaret River wine country, our vineyard and cellar door allow you to experience the nature, surroundings and laid-back lifestyle that inspired MadFish.

The MadFish range includes an ever-evolving line-up of small batch alternative varieties, made in experimental styles and available only at cellar door.

We always have fizz on pour, like the MadFish Vera’s Sparkling Cuvée and Prosecco, both made by us with specialist equipment in-house.

Set on 138 hectares of native bushland less than 5 minutes from the town of Cowaramup, the property is a spectacular place to witness the changing of the seasons. The winding tree-lined driveway passes a traditional old settler cottage and the famous Willyabrup Creek on its way to the cellar door.

The cellar door is surrounded by spacious lawn areas, where you can bring a picnic, borrow a bocce set and enjoy a glass or bottle of wine under the sun. In winter, cosy up inside on the couches with a wine by the fire. The building itself is a must-see example of award-winning architecture, built according to Feng Shui principles.

Our contemporary, cool climate wine styles are noted for their pure, fresh and clean characteristics, where the flavour of the fruit is the primary character.

Moombaki Wines

Description

Established in 1997 by David Britten and Melissa Boughey who relocated from Perth to bring their kids up with an idyllic country lifestyle. The property borders the pristine Kent River between Denmark and Walpole with low-yielding vines planted on a gentle north-facing slope with gravelly soils. The hands-on couple are meticulous in their selection of high-quality fruit, minimal intervention winemaking and precise oak handling.

Chardonnay, a Bordeaux style Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc/Malbec blend and a Shiraz are made.

Cellar Door

The estate offers complimentary wine tasting at its modern and relaxed cellar door, which also showcases a selection of artworks by resident artist (and co-owner) Melissa Boughey, inspired by the many diverse colours and forms of the Denmark region. Unique sculptural woodwork by Tony Docherty is also on show and the winery also hosts Art Trail exhibitions throughout the year. Open 7 days from 11am - 5pm.

Sandalford has been making superb West Australian wines for over 175 years. While the primary property is in the Swan Valley, the Margaret River cellar door is worth visiting, a cleverly-designed space made from rammed earth, surrounded by beautiful, country gardens, vines and native forest. Open daily from 10am to 5pm, a pergola and onsite BBQs make Sandalford a lovely place for a picnic with the family.

A Notable History
Sandalford was established in 1840 in the early days of the Perth colony’s settlement. The property was granted to WA’s first Surveyor General John Septimus Roe by Queen Victoria, to honour his 57 years of Service to the Commonwealth. He named it Sandalford after a priory in his original home of Birkshire, England.

The property had a diverse agricultural history and originally thrived growing table grapes, which became a lucrative export. Winemaking accelerated after World War II with a growing community of Croatian and Italian migrants bringing vast knowledge and techniques to the young Swan Valley wine industry. In 1970 the Roe family expanded to Margaret River, planting a vineyard on prime land in Wilyabrup.

In 1990, Sandalford was acquired by the Prendiville family, who own a portfolio of iconic tourism and hospitality establishments around WA. The Prendiville’s have invested significantly in the brand, the wines and the impressive estate.

The Wines
Sandalford makes five ranges of wines from its vineyards in the Swan Valley and Margaret River. There are over 25 wines, including sparkling, red, white, dessert and fortified wines. The winery incorporates the state-of-the-art-technology, while retaining winemaking traditions, such as small batch fruit processing and using the best quality French and American oak.

Wine Tasting
The entire Sandalford wine range (and often some other special wines) can be tasted at their Margaret River cellar door and grand Swan Valley estate. The Margaret River cellar door is a cleverly-designed space, made from rammed earth. It is surrounded by beautiful, country gardens, vines and native forest.

Description

Nestled on the hillside of Newlands just south of Donnybrook, Smallwater Estate was purchased by John Small in 1993 with the intention of developing a marron farm and a vineyard to grow contract grapes. For ten years the grapes were supplied to established wineries, with Smallwater wine (a tiny parcel of Zinfandel) made in 2006.

The near-perfect Mediterranean climate of the Geographe region is ideally suited to growing quality grapes. The estate's abundance of pure, fresh water and sunny days also permit for the estate's production of award-winning wines that are characteristic of the area.

The Wines

Varieties include unwooded and barrel-fermented Chardonnays, Rose made from Zinfandel, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and a Vintage Port. 

Cellar Door

Just 15 minutes drive south of Donnybrook, enjoy tastings of the dynamic, estate-grown wines, set with views of the vineyard, marron dams and hillsides of Newlands at the Smallwater cellar door. Open Saturday 11am - 4pm Sunday 

The Venue

The Restaurant and Deck area are perfect for event and venue hire, and we can arrange catering for weddings, parties or just group bookings.

Description

Southern Cross Certified Organic since 2016, this boutique winery is known for superb-quality, sustainably made wines from their exceptional vineyard in Wilyabrup. The vineyard was planted in the mid-1990s. Stormflower acquired the property in 2007 progressed along the path of natural vineyard management, culminating in organic certification. The wines are textural and structured and perfect for pairing with food. Sparkling Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon Blend, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon and Botrytis wine are made.

Cellar Door

The minimalist, understated cellar door continues the sustainable philosophy, with its natural feel and tasting table made from a Marri tree that blew down during a storm in 2013. The cellar door offers seated tastings, reflecting the winemakers’ preference to enjoy wines in an environment that is simple, welcoming and unhurried. Post-tasting, grab one of Stormflower’s picnic rugs and enjoy a glass of wine in the gardens.

Established in 1967 by regional pioneer Dr Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding wine estate.

One of the great wine regions of the world, Margaret River enjoys a truly unique environment and climate which makes it a paradise for winemakers and wine lovers alike.  From the first plantings right up to the modern day, Vasse Felix has always strived to explore and express the very best of the Margaret River region and to share it globally.   

Owned by the Holmes a Court family since 1987, Vasse Felix has carefully expanded its vineyards over the decades to include four distinct and exceptional sites around the Margaret River region.  Each vineyard is matched to the best possible varieties and clones, and farmed sustainably using traditional and organic practices. 

In 2017 Vasse Felix was awarded the international title of ‘New World Winery of the Year’ by US Wine Enthusiast Magazine, one of six Australian wineries to ever win this title.

The Wines

Vasse Felix's wines reflect the varietal strengths of Margaret River, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, as well as Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon blends.  All wines are vinified with minimal intervention and bottled within the Estate’s modern winery, situated at their Home Vineyard overlooking the Wilyabrup Brook. The Vasse Felix winemaking philosophy is founded on the beliefs that great wines are made in the vineyard, must be authentic expressions of their place, and are the work of a great team of passionate people.

Wine Tasting

The Vasse Felix Cellar Door - also located at the Home Vineyard - is renowned and offers a range of experiences. Enjoy a classic over the counter wine tasting or self-paced seated option, alternatively linger in the chic wine lounge over a glass of wine or wine flight with charcuterie. A range of historic vintages are available by the glass also. No trip to Margaret River is complete without a visit, tour or tasting at the Vasse Felix Cellar Door. Open 10am-5pm daily. 

For a more bespoke experience, book a behind the scenes, epicurean tour or fill a day with Vasse Felix’s Cape to Vine tour, operated in collaboration with local guide Cape to Cape Explorer Tours.

The Food

A national benchmark winery restaurant, Vasse Felix Chef Brendan Pratt creates modern cuisine with a strong focus on local, seasonal produce and a clever balance of artistry and simplicity to complement the Wine Collection. While bookings are recommended, a few walk-in seats can be snapped up at the chef’s table. Open for lunch daily 12pm - 3pm.

Aside from visiting the region’s oldest vines, explore the wow-factor museum space - The Vault, chronicling the history of Vasse Felix and Margaret River in the early days and housing Margaret River's oldest red wine - the 1972 Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon.
