A series of pinot-inspired events will showcase premium local produce and varieties of renowned regional pinot in the Southern Forests region. Foodies, wine-lovers and romantics will have the chance to sip, taste and explore this stunning corner of Western Australia across the four-day celebration, falling over Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year. The Southern Forests is Australia’s most exciting emerging wine region and the leading pinot region in WA, known for quality, expressive wines. The region produces boutique, artisanal gourmet produce that are favourites among the world's top chefs and foodies, such as fresh local marron and black truffles. Pinot Picnic is an opportunity for local wineries and restaurants to showcase their world-class pinot and gourmet fare. The full program will include family picnics, live entertainment shows, sparkling soirées, tasting masterclasses, vineyard experiences and wine-matching brunches, lunches and dinners. The event offers the chance to sip, taste and explore Manjimup and Pemberton, in the heart of Karri Tree country just three and a half hours from Perth. Description

The Karri Cup MTB Challenge is a well-established event on the mountain bike calendar. This race is organised by the Northcliffe Visitor Centre, a not-for-profit association, and the race is run by a dedicated team of up to 100 volunteers from throughout the Northcliffe community. The Karri Cup offers individuals and teams the opportunity to race 25km, 50km or 100km legs in a friendly social environment through the beautiful Karri forests surrounding Northcliffe in the South West of WA. Come and share in 100 kms along the Karri Forrest with some of the world's tallest trees. A fully supported event with a course for all ages and abilities and categories for teams and solo riders that has plenty of other riding opportunities over the weekend. By participating in this event, you are supporting local community groups which provide valuable services to the people of Northcliffe.

Busselton Festival Of Triathlon

In addition to the SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3, which will remain the premier event of the festival, we will also host an SunSmart Kids Triathlon and the Funman Teams Triathlon.

The expansion of the SunSmart Busselton Festival of Triathlon allows for a more inclusive weekend of events that brings a new level of excitement to Busselton.

Food vendors and entertainment will be provided onsite throughout the afternoon and evening, continuing until 7.30pm. There will be no entry fee to attend the celebrations.

This event is not just for regular triathletes – it’s the perfect opportunity to dip your toe into the water of multi-sport events. With a range of distances to suit all ages (from 7-70+) there are no excuses not to join in the fun! If you can’t participate but would like to watch, spectating is free and as the State Standard Distance Championships, there will be some great racing on offer.

Description

The 80km point to point course takes runners through huge Karri tree forests, along cliff top trails providing endless coastal views, over huge granite domes and rock slabs, along crisp white sandy beaches and through some of the vineyards that make the region so popular for visitors.

It will take runners on a journey through a diverse range of breathtaking landscapes, starting at Hamelin Bay in the south and finishing at the Cheeky Monkey Brewery and Cidery at Wilyabrup in the north, on Saturday 1st May 2021.

Runners from across Australia and overseas are expected to travel to Margaret River for this extraordinary event which has been designed as an achievable challenge for all levels, from elites through to trail running newcomers who can divide the 80km distance into a relay with the five different legs varying between 10km and 20km.

Entries for the 2021 Margaret River Ultra Marathon is now open.

Description

The Margaret River Pro forms part of the World Surf League (WSL) World Championship Tour (WCT), where the top-ranked male and female surfers compete over a 12-day period. This is one of eleven WCT events globally, which occur at iconic destinations including Australia, Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa, North America, French Polynesia, Europe and Hawaii.

Grab some mates, and head down to Surfers Point, Prevelly to watch the best surfers in the world battle it out. A contingency plan is in place for the comp to move to North Point Gracetown if necessary, so whatever the weather, you’ll be able to watch some serious surf.

The 2021 Margaret River Pro is a free spectator event, open to all ages. As well as the main comp, there’ll be opportunities to see live music and kids activities at the Margaret River skate park.

Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival is the biggest regional literary event in Western Australia (WA). Each year it brings an array of thought-provoking writers to the region including novelists, journalists, academics and established and emerging storytellers from WA, interstate and overseas.

Themed ‘Future Tense’, the festival will look at both possible and highly imagined futures through a literary lens, to explore and share visions for the future from some of Australia’s most renowned writers, speakers and thinkers.

MSWA Albany Swim

Swim with us in 2021. The MSWA Albany Swim has become an iconic, much anticipated, annual community event for the region. Join swimmers of all ages, for an eight-hour relay challenge.

Description

The MSWA Albany Swim is an amateur swimming event, that takes place at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre; where teams compete to swim the longest distance in a set 8-hour period. Teams of 10 challenge themselves in the swim - they must have one swimmer in the water at all times for the duration of the event. There are no rules on how the competitors swim the event (freestyle, backstroke, or doggy paddle!) and 2021 will see an adjustment to the rules, that allows all swimmers to utilise swimming aids during the event. For example, one competitor may choose to swim 10 continuous laps before passing to the next person; whilst another team may rotate their swimmers every two or four laps. As long as each person in the team swims a minimum of six laps or equivalent, the team score is considered valid.

Capel Makers Trail

The lush green township of Capel is becoming a new hub of South West arts, crafts, and other hand-made creations with its second Capel Makers Trail.

The Spectrum Space Symposium 2021 brings together individuals on the spectrum, family members, carers, allied health professionals, service providers, educators, and anyone with an interest in autism, its strengths and challenges, and provides an excellent opportunity to connect and network. For the first time, we're taking this unique event on the road to bring inspiring speakers, including those with lived experience, to three regional locations in Western Australia. Presentations will include keynote and breakout sessions on a wide range of topics designed to inform, inspire and engage. Keynote speakers include Andrew Whitehouse, Emma Goodall and Tom Tutton; as well as local lived experience. In 2021 they celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the current day event and eighty-fifth anniversary of the original Around the Houses race in Australia which was held in Albany in 1936. They will also pay tribute to the Holden.

This leading historic motorsport event presents a wide variety of cars from vintage wire wheels, post-vintage and classics as well as open wheel racers and big cube muscle cars. This event is part of the Western Australian Regularity Championship. It is organised locally by the Albany Classic Motorsport Club with the Vintage Sports Car Club of Western Australia.

An army of volunteers carry out this transformation overnight on the Saturday. On the Sunday, experience the spectacle of 150 vintage and classic cars competing on this temporary street circuit. Alongside the action of the cars is a family festival with bands & entertainment, competitions, food and other stalls along with displays of vintage cars and street machines.

One of WA’s most popular arts events, Margaret River Region Open Studios, returns in September following the popularity of a Springtime event in 2020.

Open Studios promises to be more vibrant than ever, capturing the colours of spring and wildflower season and providing an opportunity for you to enjoy the Margaret River region in all its glory.

More than 100 artists from Busselton to Augusta will be opening their studio doors to welcome in art lovers and share their passion.

Celebrating great films, the festival incorporates some of Australia's most beautiful locations, world-class Margaret River wines and gourmet fresh foods.

It is the culmination of a series of workshops run over a week by the WAAPA Contemporary Music staff combining secondary and tertiary students, who present in one of WA's finest theatres. The performance covers a wide musical base from pop to rock, R'n'B to soul and funk classics in a spectacularly produced concert with a huge cast of talented young musicians and singers. The Margaret River Region Open Studios returns 11 to 26 September 2021, a 16-day event offering a trail of discovery for all art lovers. With over 100 artists, this is the largest event of it’s kind.

Description

Artists and artisans open the doors to their art studios and workshops, delivering a unique experience for art lovers to meet the creator of the artwork, peruse original artworks and of course purchase artwork. Work may include painting, drawings, sculpture, hand blown glass, print making, handmade furniture, as well as jewellery, ceramics, textiles and other mediums. Geographically grouped venues across Busselton, Margaret River, Augusta, Vasse, Yallingup, Quindalup, Dunsborough, Cowaramup will be shown on maps so visitors can design their own art trails. Entry is FREE to all Art Lovers.

Showcasing Exhibitions, Performances, Masterclasses & Workshops, this will be a festival with much to offer both the local community from which it has sprung, and enthusiasts from abroad. Lovers of live music can expect everything from Blues to Roots, World to Jazz, Metal & Rock, Country, Classical and more, featuring players from around the country showcasing the magic of strings – be it electric or acoustic, bass or mandolin, banjo or ukulele and beyond. The inaugural 2019 event attracted close to 8,000 attendees across 27 stages and venues in and around Margaret River. The festival received a swathe of positive reviews and feedback from attendees; notably Yorgos Bechlivanoglou, Director of “All That Guitar” festival, Greece, internationally renowned performer & lecturer and maker of Moov Travel Guitars, who said it was “an amazing, open minded, perfectly organised, highest level guitar festival, already from its first edition!” Strings Attached: The West Australian Guitar Festival showcased over 60 artists and featured 40+ workshops, masterclasses, Q&A’s and presentations across the weekend in a massive first year program.
