The Spectrum Space Symposium 2021 brings together individuals on the spectrum, family members, carers, allied health professionals, service providers, educators, and anyone with an interest in autism, its strengths and challenges, and provides an excellent opportunity to connect and network. For the first time, we’re taking this unique event on the road to bring inspiring speakers, including those with lived experience, to three regional locations in Western Australia. Presentations will include keynote and breakout sessions on a wide range of topics designed to inform, inspire and engage. Keynote speakers include Andrew Whitehouse, Emma Goodall and Tom Tutton; as well as local lived experience. As the Symposium takes place during school hours in smaller communities, we are offering educators the option of attending for ½ day, to help with the challenge of sourcing and paying for relief teachers.

Description

Dongara- Port Denison over the long weekend in September is the place to be for classic car owners manufactured prior to 1985. The ideal complement to this event is the Midwest Show ‘n Shine.

Cars displayed at the Show n Shine do not have a restricted build date so you can expect to see classics to the modern and everything in between. People are encouraged to dust off their pride and joys and bring them along to put them on display. There is something for everyone!

The Denison Foreshore Sprint is a single car timed experience using the same format of the more famous local and international sprint events. Cars launch from a standing start, navigate the course through a flying finish. Spectators will get an un-obstructed view of the action behind traditional hay bale barriers or from above as the cars travel rapidly past the obelisk on the hill.

Description

The 15 minute 3D film and accompanying exhibit tells the story of the battle between HMAS Sydney II and HSK Kormoran, tracing the events of this World War II Naval battle 200 kilometres off the coast of Shark Bay. Astonishing deep-sea 3D imagery from the 2015 expeditions to the wreck sites, under taken by WA Museum, Curtin University and DOF Subsea have been used to create an interpretative timeline of the battle and to offer insights into what happened when the ships met off Shark Bay 77 years ago.

Description

Jurien Bay Community Markets are held at Fauntleroy Park, just south of the jetty, in Jurien Bay. Previously known as the Lions Markets, they are now run by the Jurien Bay Progress Association.

There are a variety of regular stallholders selling everything from local produce and preserves to handcrafted giftware. 

Everyone is welcome at the Community Markets, even your pooch. There's always the local mobile dog wash on hand for that impromptu quick groom.
