Going beyond simply building pools, Out from the Blue pushes the boundaries in landscape architecture to produce award-winning masterpieces.

Out from the Blue (OFTB) was established in 1995 by Gary Kilworth, who had a vision to seamlessly integrate contemporary landscape design with high-quality construction of concrete swimming pools.

Based in Melbourne, OFTB has grown to comprise a team of landscape architects, horticulturists and in-house pool builders who work closely to create highly individual, imaginative and exciting landscape outcomes.

The evolution of design at OFTB has seen the methods and materials from other disciplines, such as furniture design, interior design, and lighting and architecture, innovatively interpreted into a landscape context. In particular, OFTB pushes the boundaries in landscape architecture and encourages us to reconsider where the landscape ends and architecture begins. OFTB demonstrates that an entire project can be designed by one office under the banner of landscape architecture. What is achieved is a seamless integration of all elements.

Now one of inner Melbourne’s leading residential landscape architecture studios and swimming pool construction companies, the office is continually being recognised for its work.

At the recent 2013 Swimming Pool & Spa Association (SPASA) Awards, OFTB received nine awards in total, including Gold for Best Pool & Landscape Combination.

The company has received over 50 awards in the past 17 years and the office has now expanded its practice both interstate and internationally.
