The shipwreck is one of Queensland’s most spectacular and least dived due to the loss of 134 people, causing it to be the worst maritime disaster to happen in Queensland. Today, the ship lies on its port side in 18 metres of water and is a sensational dive site.

The Rms Quetta Punsand is largely intact, providing plenty of cabins and holds to explore. The shipwreck is decorated by lush corals, providing a home for various invertebrate species and reef fish. Schools of batfish, trevally, snappers, sweetlips, and barracuda are commonly seen at the site. The currents are moderately strong, and visibility is often between 15-20 meters making it ideal for experienced divers.
December to March is the rainy season, and visibility can be affected. April and November offer a balance between weather and visibility, making them great months to visit the site.

The RMS Quetta is accessible by boat from Punsand Bay, which lies about 8 kilometers away. The boat ride is manageable and takes an estimated time of about 20 minutes
