Since its inception in March 2001 and over its twenty-year history, the Metro Gallery had hosted solo exhibitions by some of the most prominent Australian artists. It has also proved a strong supporter of indigenous art and artists, as well as The Torch project, which provides art, cultural and arts industry support to Indigenous offenders and ex-offenders through art programs to define new pathways upon release.
