There is nothing like a thick stack of fluffy pancakes to kick start your day, but why settle for traditional hotcakes? We've gone in search of Perth's most extravagant pancakes that will be sure to satisfy your sweetest cravings. Whether they're topped with meringue, infused with matcha or covered in chocolate there is a stack of pancakes out there for everyone. Check out these cafés for an innovative take on a breakfast classic.

Kumo fluffy pancakes

Kumo Desserts, Perth CBD

Since hitting the Perth food scene last year, Kumo Kumo has become the latest rage for dessert lovers! With humble beginnings as a pop up in the Melbourne Night Market, the pancake café opened temporarily in Shimizu, a modern Japanese café and restaurant in Northbridge in April. Kumo Kumo has now set up shop permanently in the CBD. Kumo translates to cloud in Japanese which perfectly sums up the fluffy, cloud-like souffle pancakes served by the café. Each pancake is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and cooked to perfection using precise methods. Their best-seller, the Boba Brulee Bomb, is topped with caramelised custard, boba pearls and black sugar syrup, served with Chantilly cream, crème anglaise and vanilla ice cream.

Kumo Desserts is open Monday to Thursday 4pm - 9.30pm, Friday 4pm - 10pm, Sat 12pm - 10pm and Sunday 12pm - 9.30pm.

Padbury's, Guildford

Padbury's, Guildford

No list of ‘must-try’ pancakes is complete without Padbury’s famous Meringue Munro Pancakes. Atop a stack of fluffy buttermilk pancakes sits a generous dollop of meringue, garnished with homemade lemon curd, lemon candy, honeycomb and coconut and fig toasted granola. The café itself is as equally Insta worthy as its pancake stacks. Located in the 1896 Padbury Colonial Store you will be treated to a richly historical setting in which to indulge in your sweet treat.

Padbury's is open Monday to Sunday 7am - 3pm.

The Little Banksia

This gorgeous café serves up exceptional pancakes that are as lush as the greenery decorating the charming interior. The Little Banksia’s delightfully fluffy buttermilk pancakes are topped with caramelised banana and embellished with blueberry gel, hazelnut chocolate, vanilla mascarpone, candied walnuts, sesame brittle and salted caramel. Sourcing their ingredients locally, The Little Banksia’s seasonal menu is sure to never disappoint those who are after a sweet treat.

The café is open Monday to Friday 7am - 2.30pm and Saturday and Sunday 7am - 2pm.

Mary Street Bakery

If a sweet breakfast isn’t your cup of tea, Mary Street Bakery’s savoury pancakes are the ultimate brunch special. Topped with fried chicken, peanuts, maple chilli and finished with a fried egg, these pancakes will be on your mind all week. Located in the charming and quaint town of Guildford, Little A’s Café is well known for its amazing selection of breakfast and lunch options, along with their beautiful latte art. Serving up all day breakfast and other bites with an Asian twist, Little A’s garden pancakes are the ideal way to start your day. Picture fluffy matcha pancakes topped with pure maple syrup, vanilla mascarpone cheese and garnished with fresh seasonal fruits and pistachios. Everything tastes better when it’s covered in chocolate - and pancakes are no exception. Chris' Kitchen pancakes are for the chocoholics out there! Only available on Saturdays, the Ferrero Pancakes consist of 3 buckwheat and banana pancakes served with raw snickers pieces, caramel and peanut sauce. Each stack is topped with your choice of ice cream plus chocolate sauce and crushed peanuts. With the entire menu being wheat, meat, dairy and refined sugar free, you can enjoy your chocolate covered pancakes guilt-free!

Chris' Kitchen is open Monday to Friday 7am - 2pm and Saturday 8am - 2pm (pancakes only available Saturday).
