Wineries in Albany Region

Albany wine region is set in some of the most picturesque and unspoilt countryside in WA. Covering an area of almost 1,000 square kilometres, the region stretches from the Frankland River through Mount Barker, east to Denmark and west to the Porongurups.

The cooler weather in Albany makes it a prime location for producing pinot noir, chardonnay and riesling. The region is home to some 26 cellar doors spread out across the countryside, so a wine tour can be a good way of making sure you don't miss out on the hidden gems. You can also hire or bring a bike and cycle around them on the Go Taste Trail.

For something a touch stronger, there's the distillery for internationally awarded whisky, vodka, grappa, gin and brandy. Better yet, sample them all in some of the trendy bars in town.

WA's oldest port is now held in high regard as one of the state's most breathtaking and versatile holiday hubs. Boasting some of the state's premier attractions, you'll want more than just a few days to explore national parks and beautiful beaches around the bustling port.

There's plenty to do to work off all that food and wine, get outdoors and experience Albany's stunning landscape and wildlife. Swim, surf or fish one of the many beautiful breaks along the rugged coastline whilst watching humpback whales, dolphins and seals frolic at their favourite breeding spots. Or for adventure seekers, step it up a gear and get off the beaten track for 4WD adventures, bike paths past breathtaking beaches and bush land, or mountain biking and hiking along the Bibbulmun Track, Munda Biddi trail and other specialty tracks.

If that all sounds too hectic for you, just relax at one of the city's historic venues, artisanal stores, Indigenous art galleries or two renowned farmers markets. It's a lot to take in, so plan ahead, and give yourself plenty of time.
