Injidup Beach

Attractions

Description

Injidup is a beautiful beach offering a well known surf break.

The name Injidup comes from the Nyoongar word (inji) for the lovely red pea flower (Templetonia retusa) that grows along the limestone cliffs in spring.

Cape Clairault, which forms the southern arm of the bay, was named by the French expedition of 1801-1803 aboard the GĂ©ographe and the Naturaliste after celebrated French mathematician Alexis Clairault (1713-1765). Clairault confirmed many theories of gravitation, his most renowned being the return of Halley's Comet.

Injidup beach is adjacent to the eastern edge of the Injidup Sanctuary Zones. Fishing from recreation or commercial vessels is not permitted in this zone. However, fishing from shore is permitted. For more information visit the Fisheries website. Learn more about staying safe while fishing.
