Walk trails start at the interpretive trailhead/picnic shelter near the car park and progress up the rocky stairs onto the flat hill of Mount Matilda. It is recommended to bear left and follow the loop in a clockwise direction. Rest and enjoy views from nine lookouts and pause at 22 interpretive panels describing a selection of the flora, fauna and scenic views and another 20 highlighting some of the notable flora. Allow at least three hours for the full 7.3 kilometre circuit following yellow markers with a thorny devil symbol or choose the shorter 4.8 kilometre Wildflower Trail following yellow markers with a malleefowl symbol.
