Westonia experiences a Mediterranean climate with summer maximum temperatures ranging from 35-40°C and winter temperatures of 15–20°C. The mean annual rainfall is 324mm, most falling between May and August. Important floristic components of the vegetation are eucalypts, wattles, Melaleuca and grasses. Wattles are locally abundant, generally grow in mixed-species assemblages and clearly play important ecological roles.
