Attractions

Description

The King George Plunges into tidal waters over sandstone cliffs 100m high to form Western Australia’s highest twin waterfalls.

The extraordinary King George River is a popular tourist attraction due to its spectacular scenery and the opportunity for wildlife viewing.

Significant falls

The river is of high cultural significance to the Balanggarra people, for whom the falls are the male and female Wunkurr (Rainbow Serpents).

River-carved gorge

The surrounding coastline adds to the attraction of the area, including cliffs, gorges and mangrove-lined bays. The tidal portion of the river lies within a Special Purpose Zone (recreation and conservation) and recreational fishing is permitted.
