Shelley Beach Ngari Capes
Shelley Beach at Bunker Bay is a rewarding snorkelling site that is almost always protected.
- Feature:Dogs Allowed - No,2WD Access - No
Entry is from a sandy beach.
The main point of interest is the large rock near the centre of the bay. The reefs and ledges around two big rocks which have separated from the main rock are interesting. Fish life includes red-lip morwong, footballer sweep, hulafish, garfish, moonlighters, stripeys and western talma. You will also see sea stars of different shapes and sizes.
You can swim around the rock to another reef, which is separated from the rock by a channel. This is also a good vantage point to look up and see the spectacular eroded cliff face overlooking the bay.
There is a hole about five metres deep with ledges around it, offering an interesting area for exploration.
- Swimming into caverns and under ledges can be hazardous.
