Description

Nambung National Park is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts in Western Australia.

Located approximately 200 km northwest of Perth, the park offers diverse landscapes and remarkable geological features that excite visitors from near and far.

The park's crowning glory is the Pinnacles Desert, which boasts thousands of eerie limestone formations known as pinnacles. These pillars, rising up to 3.5 meters from the yellow sand base, are the result of weathering and erosion of limestone beds created from deposited coral and molluscs. The Pinnacles Desert contains a range of formations, from short tombstones to taller columns, and even tapering versions resembling mushroom-tops. Visitors can also explore the extraordinary eco-system of thrombolites at Lake Thetis, located in the northern part of the park.

Nambung National Park is bordered by the Southern Beekeeper's Nature Reserve to the north and Wanagarren Nature Reserve to the south. It has a vast area of unused Crown land along most of its eastern boundary, while the Indian Ocean serves as its western edge. Visitors can access the Pinnacles Desert from the north or south of Cervantes via the Indian Ocean Drive or Cervantes Road from the east.

The park's namesake, the Nambung River, flows through the park and is home to various fish, arthropods, and bird species. In addition to the pinnacles, the park features riverside ecosystems and low heathland areas spread throughout the coastal dunes. Kangaroo Point and Hangover Bay are popular beaches within the park, ideal for swimming and surfing.

Nambung National Park is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including rare and unusual wildlife. With
