Description

Eighty Mile Beach extends for 220km. Endless stretches of white sand scattered with tropical seashells contrast with the rocky shores, seagrass meadows, tidal creeks and mangrove-lined muddy bays.

The panoramic vistas and turquoise waters of the marine park make it popular for beach fishing, camping, four-wheel driving, walking, swimming, beachcombing, bird watching, wildlife viewing and enjoying magnificent sunsets. You are welcome to fish. Please abide by Department of Fisheries bag, size and season limits. Most fishers target threadfin salmon, blue nose salmon and mulloway. You are able to launch your boat from the beach at high tide.

Wading wonders

Eighty Mile Beach Marine Park is one of the world's most important feeding grounds for small wading birds that migrate to the area each summer, travelling from countries thousands of kilometres away. The marine park is a major nesting area for flatback turtles which are found only in northern Australia. Sawfish, dugong, dolphins and millions of invertebrates inhabit the sand and mud flats, seagrass meadows, coral reefs and mangroves.

Amenities

The park itself has no facilities, but the privately operated Eighty Mile Beach Caravan Park has a mini mart, fresh water, power, barbecues, several ablution blocks, shade and lawn.

Cape Keraudren has campsites, toilets, rubbish bins and an on-site ranger (vehicle entry and camping fees apply).

A privately run caravan park at Pardoo Station, has campsites, ablution facilities, a camp kitchen with gas barbecues, a swimming pool, filtered water for drinking and a kiosk (with limited opening times).
