Description

Elephant Rock, a stunning rock formation located on Currumbin Beach, is a popular attraction among tourists and locals alike.

This majestic rock is the result of ancient volcanic activity and has become one of the most iconic landmarks in the area.

Visitors can climb the stairs to the top of the rock to reach a platform that provides breathtaking views of the surrounding areas such as Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta. From this vantage point, you can take in the beauty of the golden sandy beaches and clear blue waters of the Gold Coast. Alternatively, if you prefer to lounge on the beach, the Currumbin Beach is an excellent spot for swimming, surfing or simply soaking up the sun.

Elephant Rock is located at the southern end of Currumbin Beach, approximately 20 minutes' drive from Surfers Paradise. You can take public transport by catching the bus from the Gold Coast Highway to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and walking down to the beach. Alternatively, you can drive and park in the beach parking lot nearby.

Elephant Rock has become a significant site for the annual Anzac Day Dawn Service. The service is held at the base of the rock where a war memorial plaque is located, and it honours the brave soldiers who fought for Australia in wars. The service starts at 5:30 am, and attendees can climb the rock to witness the sunrise shortly after the service. As the area becomes quite crowded on this day, it's best to plan your visit in advance if you wish to attend the service.
