Pride Western Australia Incorporated welcomes you to the 27th celebration of PrideFEST. WA’s premier LGBTQI+ arts, culture and community festival.
Pride WA grew out of a community movement protesting laws that actively discriminated against lesbian and gay West Australians, and has worked closely with many in our community to achieve law reforms.
Pride WA is now focused on supporting and growing Western Australia’s LGBTQI+ artists, performers and community groups. PrideFEST is a festival where we can share our talents and stories with the wider community of Western Australia. We are very proud to be supporting regional community groups in Albany, Bunbury, Broome, Busselton, and Esperance which are celebrating all things Pride with individual festivals being held.
The Pride Parade originated as a protest march in 1983 now today being one of the largest, visual, participant and spectator numbers street parades on the WA calendar. With over 70 groups and floats, and more than 1500 people taking part, the Pride parade on 25th November accumulates the arts, cultural and community elements over the four marvelous weeks of PrideFEST.
This festival represents and celebrates our incredibly diverse community. We encourage everyone to be involved and have their voices heard in a united, safe environment. There are activities for people of all ages and stages of life, from visual arts to cabaret shows to community gatherings and dance classes!
The theme for 2017 is FREEDOM – a celebration that we are all free to be who we are, without fear of retribution.
