Perth Walk For Water (expired event)

Events Mar 21

Lake Monger Reserve, Northwood Street Carpark, Wembley, WA

Description

This March, the WA WaterAid Committee invites you to join us for their third annual Walk for Water.

The WA WaterAid Committee are raising money as part of WaterAid's Walk for Water event, walking around Lake Monger on Thursday 21st March (the day before World Water Day) joined by Patrick Gorman MP - Federal Member for Perth.

What would you do if your closest water source was more than half an hour away? This is a daily reality for millions, but it doesn't have to be. 1 in 9 people worldwide still don’t have access to clean water close to home. For hundreds of millions of people, especially women and girls, that means long, dangerous and physically painful walks to collect water from sources that could be filthy.

This is a community event – everyone is welcome to join, from the water industry to the wider community! Meet next to the car park closest to Northwood Street off Lake Monger Drive at 5.30pm. There will be one lap of the lake, stopping for a few photos along the way, with the aim to be back at the start by 6.15pm. Be sure to wear walking shoes and BYO water!

Donations of $10 are encouraged on the day! The first 10 donations will receive a pedometer or water bottle. Sign up via the Eventbrite link to confirm your attendance.

WaterAid is committed to helping communities gain access to clean water sources close to home, enabling women and girls to spend more of their time going to school, seeking employment, looking after children, and engaging in leisure activities.
