Description

A media group for young adults to gain experience needed for a career in arts and media.

The Colosoul Group Inc. begun in 2005 as a response to the growing need for hands on youth participation within the arts and media industry. With the difficulty of attaining the right skills due to the lack of mentorship available Colosoul opened its doors to youths from the ages of 13-25 years old. Colosoul over the years has helped hundreds of youths to find a pathway that best suits the individual giving them guidance, encouraging self confidence and empowering them.

L.I.C.K (Learn.Innovate.Colosoul.Kickstart)

For 18-25 year olds who are wanting to build up their portfolios and expand their skills development through hands-on practical experience and is especially designed for those 18-25 year olds who are looking at studies, currently studying, or who have graduated. It is a known fact that it can be almost impossible to get a job in the area that you have studied if you do not have the necessary experience required. As a young person tries to find a job in their chosen field of study realises that opportunities are extremely limited due to their extremely limited experience, they experience a lot of distress, low self-esteem and depression. The L.I.C.K. program is designed to give the mentee as much practical hands-on experience in their chosen field to greatly increase their skills, and therefore, their chances of future employment.

G.A.P - Got Absolute Potential

For 13-17 year olds who don’t cope within the normal education system and are needing one-on-one mentoring. This guidance and support is designed to help them decide what they might like to do and gives them the opportunity to explore their creativity in a positive environment. The GAP Program is a hands-on, intensive mentoring program targeted at youths between the ages of 13 and 18 who are struggling with the normal schooling system. This may be due to their learning style, i.e. being kinaesthetic-tactile learners (those who learn through activity), rather than auditory/visual learners, or disengagement from the community. GAP’s aim is to give these young people a positive, constructive and creative environment in which to find their passion and direction, re-engage with the community, and learn in a style/at a pace which they find easy to cope with. Participants in the GAP Program have the opportunity to receive mentoring in a wide range of creative industries, including fashion design, fashion, hair & make-up styling, graphic design, photography, creative writing, retail, reception/HR, art curating, music production, film production, events management, and small-business management. Each participant is assigned a mentor, a member of the Colosoul Group team who will guide and support them in achieving their goals, and discuss with them what they are interested in and feel comfortable with and set tasks/deadlines accordingly. Regular workshops are held, and there is also the opportunity to attain a nationally recognised diplomas through our educational provider ACAS, or a certificate of recognition. By participating in GAP, are able to build up their portfolio in creative industries which it may otherwise be difficult to gain professional experience in.

Moordijti Program

A sub program of G.A.P focused on empowerment of Indigenous Youth and reconciliation. The program is tailored for each individual and facilitated by the embracement of the Whadjuk Nyoongar culture and language. Colosoul has a strong focus on the empowerment of Indigenous young people and reconciliation within Colosoul’s GAP Mentorship Program. Services are provided on a case-by-case basis and are tailored to individual needs. Colosoul’s GAP Program is facilitated by the embracement of the Whadjuk Nyoongar culture and language. All participants are taught to speak Whadjuk Nyoongar, and cultural workshops will be held. This provides the cultural safety essential to the success of Indigenous participants, and also enlightens and broadens the horizons of the non-Indigenous participants.
