Description
New Zealand-based jazz singer Clo Chaperon returns to Perth for her first hometown show at The Ellington, performing a mix of jazz standards, original songs and more.
Having been based in New Zealand for the last 13 years, Perth-born jazz singer Clo Chaperon is performing her first hometown show. She has become a staple on the New Zealand jazz festival and club circuit, with performances ranging from fronting big bands to captivating solo outings.
Inspired by the greats, Clo pays homage to Ella Fitzgerald’s vocal mastery and the musical explorations of instrumentalists like Stan Getz and Miles Davis. Leaning on these influences, she channels modern artists like Esperanza Spalding, Gretchen Parlato and Jill Scott to create her eclectic sound. Whether she’s injecting the Great American Songbook with her unique charm, or delivering her own originals, Clo’s shows manage to transcend the old and the new with flair.
Backed by local jazz musicians Nick Abbey (Bass), Brodie Stewart (Piano) and Mike Perkins (Drums), Clo Chaperon’s first hometown show will include a mix of fresh interpretations of classic standards, original compositions and more.
