Calm and Calamity – Metaphysics of Architecture (expired event)

Events Aug 2 - 23

Upstairs, 267 William St, Northbridge, WA 6000

Description

In a global context buildings and abodes have been destroyed by fire, wind, water, earthquake, neglect and war, there not here.

‘Living Here Not There’ is the umbrella theme under which Helena Sahm works where the metaphysics of buildings and the human connections that are made in this physical world are a realm of investigation. In a global context buildings and abodes have been destroyed by fire, wind, water, earthquake, neglect and war, there not here. Her work invites responses from us through our perceptions, experiences, memory and aspirations of our built environment. A combination of recycled and new materials in both 3 and 2-dimensional work illustrate these ideas on shelter and the ever-present possibilities of calamity that presides over our existence.
