Witness Stand Mt Pleasant (expired event)

Events Feb 19 - Mar 14

Deep Water Point Reserve, 100 The Esplanade, Mount Pleasant, WA 6153

Description

Hosted at bodies of water, reserves and forgotten sites across Perth, Witness Stand invites gathering and learning about the ancient stories of Whadjuk country.

Guests of the Deep Water Point Reserve venue will hear compositions by Chris Cobilis, Tessa Darcey and Rachael Dease.

With seven sites being utilised for this event, audiences will experience a series of bespoke seating tiers extending from Wadjemup (Rottnest Island) to Walyalup (Fremantle) and through to the Guildford area. Audiences will experience a series of specially commissioned sound works paying homage to the ancient stories of Whadjuk country and acknowledging the interruptions to this place caused by colonisation.

This new commission invites audiences to consider the Derbal Yerrigan as a source of life. To listen anew and to witness as one.
