Events Aug 30

Description

We often hear stories from World War II about the horrible experiences that our servicemen endured. Our event will give you an insight into the issues that those on the 'home front' coped

The Friends of ANZAC Cottage will be acknowledging the conclusion of World War 11 on Sunday, August 30, 1:30pm to 4pm with an author talk at 2pm and repeated at 3pm from Gary Mentiplay based on his book” Australia in the 1940s: Life on the Homefront”.  It is difficult to imagine how life went on when so many men and women were deployed in various localities throughout the world fighting a vicious war.  However, even under these difficult circumstances, “normal” life events such as births, deaths and marriages continued.  Gary’s book will deal with subjects such as rations, transport and includes snippets such as “War Briefs” and “War News” to put events in context.  Gary’s book will be available for sale and he will be delighted to sign a copy for you.

ANZAC Cottage is located at 38 Kalgoorlie Street, Mt Hawthorn and entry to the Cottage is free with afternoon tea is available for a gold coin donation with soft drinks and icecreams on sale.  For more information, please contact Anne via email: chapan@highway1.com.au or phone 0411 44 55 82.
