Description

New paintings of the northwest by John Lacey: ‘These pieces give the audience the chance to interpret and discover the abstraction of place.'

‘The journey West continues to inspire, and although I enjoy capturing what’s in front of me, which is evident in several impressionistic pieces, its the expression and simplification, the feeling and emotion that one gathers and releases onto the canvas that is rewarding as an artist.’

John Lacey has painted for over thirty years in various mediums.  He now concentrates on oil and has exhibited very successfully in WA for over ten years.  Although residing in South Australia, he loves the northern Western Australian landscape, having made several en plein air painting trips to the Kimberley and Pilbara.  He is able to attract the viewer through his honest representation of the beautiful formations and hues of the north of our state.  His work is ever developing and can be described as expressive contemporary landscape, which has a strong design quality and at times borders on the abstract without loosing a sense of place.  This style is what attracts people to admire & collect his work from all over Australia.
