Description

The Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) is Australia's peak breastfeeding information and support service.

Breastfeeding is a practical, learned skill and ABA helps more than 80,000 mothers each year. ABA also provides up-to-date information and continuing education for thousands of health professionals working with mothers and babies. ABA was founded in 1964 by six Melbourne mothers as the Nursing Mothers' Association, with the aim of helping and supporting other mothers to breastfeed. This mother-to-mother support continues today. The Association has more than 1,100 volunteers made up of breastfeeding counsellors, who are mothers who have breastfed their own children and have completed a Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education (Counselling), and community educators who have completed the Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education. Where we are in WA Our group meets fortnightly (during school terms) at 9.30am on Monday mornings at the St Peter and Emmaus Church Hall, 56 Green St Joondanna. We cover most suburbs in the City of Wanneroo.
