Returning for its 5th year, Fremantle Oval will be the place to be to see the Bandgropers (WA Musicians) take on the Newshounds (Community Media) in a footy match for the ages.
The Bandgropers (WA Musicians) featuring members of Axe Girl, New Talk, Odette Mercy and Her Soul Atomics, Flossy and a host of more. They will be lead off field by legendary blues man Wayne Green and Donna Simpson (The Waifs).
On field the team will be captained by Matt Harksamp (Shimmergloom, Verona) and Natasha Shanks (The Little Lord Street Band). Plus, the king of rock and roll, Tim Rogers (You Am I) will be gracing the Bandgropers dressing room in a special appearance.
The Newshounds (Media & Community Organisations) featuring players from RTRFM, Channel Nine, Channel 10 and local politicians, including Ben Wyatt MLA and Carina Zaffino. They will be dutifully coached by Peter Barr (ABC Producer and former RTRFM Brekky presenter) and Danae Gibson (RTRFM’s talk producer and biggest AFLW fan going around).
On field they will be lead by RTRFM alumni and CEO of Short Back and Sidewalks, Craig Hollywood and Meri Fatin (Drastic on Plastic, Three Gates Media).
Plus, on field entertainment will be provided by Noah Dillon and The Little Lord Street Band and a very special AFL nines game at half time of Reclink Perth’s finest.
Players will puff and pant across Fremantle Community Oval in a game which is part fun, part serious and wholly hilarious, before local musicians entertain the masses on this hallowed footy turf. There’ll be tasty food stalls and both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages on offer.
Join us from noon at Fremantle Oval to see if the Newshounds can break their duck and take the cup away from the Bandgropers. It will be a day of footy, fun, drinks and good times all in the name of Reclink Australia, helping the disadvantaged through sports and arts.
