Bang Bang Betty & the H Bombs (expired event)

Events Saturday April 28

135 George Street, East Fremantle, WA 6158

Description

Take one part jumpin’ rhythm and blues, one part red-hot rockabilly and throw in one part hip-shaking rumba and you have Bang Bang Betty and The H-Bombs.

Retro Music Box presents this dynamic five-piece band who will be bringing its 1950s R&B to the Duke of George in Fremantle on Saturday, September 28.

With lead vocals from Coo Jarvis, aka Bang Band Betty or Miss Dynamite the band plays fun and infectious rock ‘n’ roll as it’s meant to be played – with honking sax, stinging guitar, thumping double bass and pounding drums.

Coo will hypnotise an audience with her hip-shaking dancing and beguile them with her smooth vocals before rousing them to stomp out some rock ‘n’ roll moves.

The H-Bombs’ line-up features musicians who have played in many of Perth’s top rock combos, covering styles from country jazz to jump blues and rockabilly.

In includes Andy Jarvis on guitar, Mark Sprogowski on tenor sax, Dom D’Leno on drums – also members of The Milford Street Shakers - and Marc Gordon, who played with Rick Steele in The Hot Biscuit Band, on double bass.

Their repertoire focuses on fun and upbeat numbers from the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll, mixing a carefully selected array of crowd-pleasers with some fantastic songs by less familiar artists who deserve to be famous.

The H-Bombs perform exciting tunes from some of the greatest “rockin” vocalists of the 50s-era including Ruth Brown, Lavern Baker, Big Maybelle, Brenda Lee and Peggy Lee, with numbers that will be familiar to rock n roll fans, such as Them There Eyes, Heartbeart, Ko Ko Mo and Dynamite’

Coo brings a unique musical background to the band which gives it a distinct flavor.
