Double Act - Elmari Steyn & Peter Zappa (expired event)

Events Feb 5 - Mar 7

4 Queen Street, Busselton, WA 6280

Description

An exhibition by joint winners of the 2019 City of Busselton Art Award.

Namibian born Elmari Steyn is continuing her love of the arts as an active printmaker, focussing on copper plate etching and jewellery making. Her works reflect her love of nature and wilderness, especially the relationship of individuals within nature, and the experience of transition and sense of place. Elmari’s intricately collaged etchings present fragments of stories, beliefs and every-day happenings amongst a small band of people; told through depicting the trees, boats, houses, lands and countries they lived in and travelled through. Peter Zappa’s freestanding kinetic metal sculptures create visual movements that contract and expand as you move about the space. This lyrical narrative plays out as the individual orbits interact in an intersecting cat and mouse game. Peter is represented by the Mossenson Galleries, Perth.
