Description

Touring from the National Archives of Australia, this exhibition examines the diversity of Australian immigrants and the government’s ambitious plans after World War II to encourage mass migration.

A Greek girl, sent across the world to marry a man she’d never met; an African journalist fleeing for his life; and a stateless baby born in India to Iranian parents.

These are just some of the human stories that feature in A Ticket to Paradise?

A Ticket to Paradise? reveals the human aspect of migration through recordings of new and archival personal accounts. These stories provide an insight into the rich, complex and very different experiences of the migrants and refugees who have settled here, and the promotional campaigns that persuaded them to come.

This is a free exhibition.

A Ticket to Paradise? will also be travelling to the Museum of the Goldfields, Museum of Geraldton, and the WA Maritime Museum.
