Reach for the Moon at Museum of the Goldfields these school holidays! Did you know it has been 50 years since the first person walked on the Moon?
Join us as we create rockets, find out what a water bear is, and aim for the stars with a fun range of out-of-this-world school holiday activities.
Aiming for the Stars
Some special stars have come down from the night sky and filled the Museum–can you find them? Follow the star trail and earn your own gold star by answering the trivia questions on the back of each one.

Balloon Rocket Racers
Using a little bit of innovation and imagination, create your own rocket and race it against your friends to see who goes the fastest and the furthest.

Water Bears on the Moon
Did you know there are ‘water bears’ on the Moon? Also known as Tardigrades, water bears are near-microscopic animals with long, plump bodies and eight legs. The tiny animals were on an experimental craft which crashed on the Moon. Find out more about Tardigrades and other mini beasts in space.

Movies at the Museum
Want some quiet time in the middle of the week? Bring your popcorn and cushions and enjoy a movie at the Museum.
