Lustre: Pearling & Australia
Discover the intriguing stories behind northern Australia's unique pearling tradition. Immerse yourself in the qualities of the shell itself, its evolution and habitat, and the people who have collected and harvested these treasures from Saltwater Country in our newest exhibition, Lustre: Pearling & Australia.

Discovery Centre—Indian Ocean Adventure
The Discovery Centre is full of fun and immersive activities for the whole family.
Explore the Indian Ocean from below the waves, interact with science experiments that explain buoyancy in sharks, or try your hand at modelling sea creatures for our diorama.

Ocean Depths Luminaire
Create a beautiful and decorative deep ocean luminaire using layers of coloured tissue paper and fine line markers that will shine when lit from within.

Fishy Prints (workshop)

Discovery Beach Walk
Join us at a local beach to explore the ocean and coastline’s biodiversity. From the tidal zone to deepest part of the ocean discover the types of marine life that live there and we might even spot a whale!
