Description

An intuitive feel for colour, lighting, and style helps the award-winning team at YU Interior design stylised inspired living.

From the rendered front facade to the slick black porcelain tiles and gold pendant lighting that welcome visitors upon entry, this home is a clear example of harmony between a build and fit-out.

The home was designed by Neil Salvia from Neil Salvia Building Designs, and built by Quattro Homes, with the interior styling expertise of YU Interior.

A moody palette of charcoal grey, gold and timber sets the scene for the desired luxury aesthetic, with an industrial edge.

The first glimpse of this enduring style is the open staircase at the front of the home, constructed with high-gloss black bamboo stairtreads. A feature wall in Dulux Luck, monochrome accessories, and dark timber hall table complement the feature stair.

Rebel Walls wallpaper in a Sum of Numbers has been applied to the small dividing wall separating the entry hallway from the main living area, for added drama. This is adjacent to the copper ball pendant lights that fill the stair void.

To the main living room and dining zone, these tones are mirrored in a selection of grey timber laminate flooring from Formica, Dulux Whitsunday Island walls, and Dulux Luck to the bulkhead overhead in the kitchen. A recycled brick wall in the alfresco is dressed in metal wall art with backlights, while, moving back indoors, the window treatments are textured black roman blinds, which were chosen to provide a more upmarket quality.

A fusion of the client’s favourite artefacts, with new on-trend pieces like the gold trays and concrete planters, added character to the design.

Upstairs, the master bedroom is adorned with Chandabali – a black and silver textured wallpaper from Vision Wallpapers – and a besoke padded velvet bedhead and base. Cushions made by YU Interior from the Designer Guild Christian Lacroix collection Canopy Malachite inject a burst of colour.

A window looks through from the bedroom to the ensuite, with black gloss porcelain tiles, chocolate planked wood-look tile on the floors, and metallic silver-frame mirrors – a combination you don’t often see.
