Description

The client brief was to have a tropical style garden with low maintenance, water wise plants. An angled deck walkway has been built within large riverstone pebbles amongst the garden.

The owners of the property had built their house with an idea of creating an outdoor room to help form their new garden. With only 40m2 left to work with they requested a functional, tropical style yet low maintenance garden.

Large sliding glass doors and views from all windows allow the two spaces to blend together. A large cedar lined pergola protects the alfresco area from harsh sunlight making a great entertaining area. The Alfresco also features an outdoor kitchen complete with barbeque, fridge and sink. Water flows freely from stainless steel spouts into a large granite bowl. The water feature and leafy foliage create dramatic patterns of light and shadow after dark on the wall behind.

An angled jarrah deck path leads you through a dry riverstone bed with drought resistant yet lush, tropical style plantings. A large Chinese Tallow tree in the corner, protects the garden through hot summer months and allows the winter sun in to the living room.

A large twisted wooden sculpture stands between two brass taps in the wall which water flows from to the pebbles below. A mirror was attached between to reflect the angled deck path to create an illusion of walkway through to another garden.
