It has been no secret that the WA Museum has been undergoing a serious makeover these past few years. The New Museum for Western Australia is one of the most significant museum redevelopment operations in the world today.

Expected to re-open its doors to the public in 2020, the New Museum will be an iconic feature of the Perth Cultural Centre. It will act as a gateway to the exploration of Western Australia’s unique history and the diverse stories of its people.

After closing the main building in 2016, key exhibitions and objects from the WA Museum were housed across several sites in Perth, including the Perth Concert Hall and the State Library of WA. The WA Museum’s other sites in Fremantle, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Albany continue to present a wide range of Museum experiences and activities to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
