Musica Viva presents local artists Jonathan Paget and the Darlington Quartet as they come together to perform beloved classics for guitar and string quartet in the highly renowned, Perth Concert Hall on February 20.

Jonathan Paget And The Darlington QuartetAustralian artistic director, Paul Kildea brings together an inspiring program exclusive to Perth. The program tells the story of the struggle of mental health, with Iain Grandage’s impassioned Black Dogs taking their place as the centrepiece of the performance. Grandage's work is a compelling exploration of the human brain and its often-mysterious workings.

Audiences will then be taken out of the body and into nature with Christopher Sainsbury’s North Country Sketches which explores topics from the ‘top-end’ of Australia, such as the Dry season, Traditional Owner and Gagudju, using a series of solo guitar compositions.

Other acts to look forward to include Carulli’s Guitar Concerto, Op. 140, where guitar and string quartet proves to be a harmonious duo. You will also enjoy Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s stirring Guitar Quintet Op. 143, and Imogen Holst’s Phantasy Quartet, a ruminative performance that plumbs great emotional depths. Selections from Boccherini’s Guitar Quintet No 4 will close out the memorable concert.

The concert is presented in conjunction with Perth Festival. Tickets can be purchased here.
