Have fun while keeping cool this summer with a trip to an outdoor water playground.

Maylands Waterland

Surrounded by wildflower gardens on the banks of the Swan River, this might be Perth's prettiest outdoor water park. It also delivers on facilities: four pools, a playground, mini golf, shaded seating, and free barbecue facilities. Expect to stay a while.

Ellenbrook Rainbow Waters Playground

Safety and sustainability were central to the design of this playground: there's seating close to the pools, for watching little swimmers; the splash pad under the playground is soft and environmentally friendly, and the park is almost entirely sheltered by shade sails. The 15 water features and free entry don't hurt, either.

Water Labyrinth @ Forrest Place

The kids might know it as the 'fun fountain thing in the city', but did you know this installation is actually a piece by internationally renowned artist Jeppe Hein? Appreciate it either for its aesthetic beauty, or the fact that it's fun, every day during summer between 10am and 6pm.

Hyde Park Water Playground

Pack a picnic for a trip to this park: its location by the shady Hyde Park trees makes it a perfect place to spend a summer afternoon. The water operates from 8am to 8pm every day, and there are tipping bells and water cannons to put to good use. And better yet, it's free!
