The owners of this home approached Dean Herald and his team at Rolling Stone Landscapes to create a space that had an architectural quality as well as a strong connection to the home, while offering relaxed undertones. Their love for entertaining and spending time outdoors dictated a pool and spa, plus an outdoor pavilion and a tennis court.
After working closely with the clients on perfecting the design and making best use of the available space, the team finalised a plan.
Dean provided the clients with a pool that was designed all the way up to the edge of the home, and which draws them outside using the water feature. A central pavilion connects the pool and tennis court and provides a central location to entertain friends and family. It includes a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with barbecue, sink, fridge and pizza oven. There is also a dining area, outdoor bathroom and lounge area complete with wood fire and TV.
A wet-edge spillover has been used to overcome the sloping land, and the tennis court has been positioned lower than the pavilion to help reduce fill. By doing so, it also has provided a great spot to watch a game of tennis from the pavilion area.
Splish Splash Pools constructed the pool, and Kastell Kitchens supplied the outdoor kitchen. The tiles are Floor Gres Ecotech porcelain tile in Ecolight while the glass mosaic pool tiles are from Swimple.
Plant species used include bird of paradise, Mexican lily, agaves, Japanese sago palms, variegated mondo grass, blue chalk sticks
and alternanthera.
An advanced Canary Island date palm by the pool creates a resort feel and provides shade.
The homeowners are thrilled with the outcome - a lavish resort-style landscape offering the ultimate lifestyle experience. Minimalistic in design, it has created myriad places to entertain friends and family.
