Demolishing the original home and building a new one in place provided a clean slate for Pollinate to work with.
Completing the finishing touches on their home kept the clients extremely busy. Strapped for time, they put their complete trust in Suz Clark to transform their 'sand pit' into a luscious landscape.
There were only three main requirements on their design brief – green, white and purple (their favourite colours).
Working around a pre-existing decked alfresco area, Suz drafted a plan that allowed for separate living spaces to accommodate the clients' teenage boys, and careful balancing of soft and hard landscaping.
Masonry walls with 'windows' frame the garden and draw the eye to the sunken conversation pit. Eco Outdoor Bluestone for the pit's flooring gives a textural, busy appearance while simple rendered walls for seating bring the area back to calm. Purple feature walls frame this corner while lush green plantings dotted
with purple flowering salvias satisfy the clients' colour requests.
Textural planting is continued throughout the entire backyard with careful detail applied at every point, such as the delicate pink and white armeria lining the short feature wall.
To create interest when observing the garden from the decking, a 'forest' of six juvenile pin oak trees is illuminated with up-lights, immediately drawing your attention into the lush garden.
Finished with a simple water feature of spouts over ornamental grass plants, the space exudes a contemporary modern charm, softened with cottage-style plantings and trickling water.
